How dare you (now i'm going to use the word "never", because i'm 12). I would NEVER do that, because God-forbid, you make a few bucks and get someone an item below ebay's prices. You're horrible. You should be giving that away for the greater-good-of-gaming. Re: Video Game "Finds of the Day"
But do you have an example of me doing it? You might have seen my old sales thread, but how do you know how much I bought my items for? I know people do it, and I understand it. But your statement was assuming that several of the posters would also buy those games just to resell them. I was just pointing out not everybody thinks that way, even if the majority do. The most I have ever done, and will post soon, is buy a bundle that the seller won't break-up and sell all the stuff I didn't want in the first place. Do I make a profit? I might have but I have never gotten back more then I paid for the bundle to begin with.mjmjr25 wrote:The self-righteous givers of the b/s/t ooze out of the woodwork today, gag me. All of your friends must not be on racket - as i've never seen any of the (3) of you who have commented offer anything up at cost.

I don't think so - you'd pay the $3 and flip it yourself. Come correct.
But you're thought is smart. Let the person you pick it up for make the profit.
I've seen quite a few "finds of the day" posted here one day, and then put in the b/s/t a few days later, and magically the price has doubled / tripled, etc in the changeover from one thread to the other. Something the majority of us would do. The self-righteous act is incredibly lame.
I can guess on what you're thinking when it comes to reselling because you have posted several times that you bought stuff to flip it, even in peoples sales thread. I doubt you would have passed up the opportunity to buy those games to flip them. So if it was silly to assume what you are thinking on the matter, I am only going by your prior posts. It's rather silly for someone to think they know what someone else is thinking.
But aren't you also doing the same thing, assuming other peoples thoughts?

Re: Video Game "Finds of the Day"
I don't recall ever saying I bought something to flip it, it may have happened, but I certainly do not recall. I've done more trades on this forum in the past 18 months than anyone else and anyone who has traded w/me more than twice knows I throw in free (good) stuff almost every time. On a few occasions i've found things for people I knew were looking and got it for them at cost. On more than a few occasions i've sent buds stuff free, at cost of shipping or even at my cost of shipping. I've posted threads about stuff available at local stores here where I live, picked it up for them and have sent them out at cost.
If you want to take my comment that most folks would have bought/resold that stuff if they'd found it first, feel free to state what you would have done, but if you now want to be a prick and try to turn it on me, take a shot at my character and what i've done in this community, you got the wrong guy kid.

You did say "come correct". I am not saying you haven't done anything for the community, nor that you never took a hit with sales . But you never said most folks would, you saidmjmjr25 wrote:I don't recall ever saying I bought something to flip it, it may have happened, but I certainly do not recall. But again I was not stating my comments to criticize you as a person, but to let you know not everyone feels that way. Sorry if you take offence.Oh c'mon - so you're saying if it was a game you already had, you'd pass it up at $3? I don't think so - you'd pay the $3 and flip it yourself.

The comment was not made to everyone, it was made to one of the above posters who toss around phrases "F*** resellers" as if that is the collective thought.

Re: Video Game "Finds of the Day"
If you resell your doubles, or a game you don't care for, and the money is used to for other games or to put some food on the table, I don't see a problem. When you rip people off on their games and then let your games sit on ebay for a year trying to get 20 dollars for SMB/Duckhunt, then people, we have run into a problem.
Re: Video Game "Finds of the Day"
I don't see any problem with reselling on places like Racketboy. Personally, I think things on a gaming forum like this should be sold for somewhere under market value. Not a lot under, but still under. Otherwise, what's the point? Just go to eBay and rip strangers off.

Re: Video Game "Finds of the Day"
Let's face it, some people go to yard sales and wherever else and buy games and stuff for practically nothing just so they can sell them on ebay and that's how they make a chunk of their money. That's cool and everything, people do that with a lot of different things, not just video games.
The thing I don't like about it is this, for example, there's a guy that I met on Craigslist a while back who does that, he hits up Goodwill and yard sales for games (and other electronics/toys and things of that nature) on the cheap so he can sell them for a profit on eBay. He'll find things and offer to sell them to me "for the best deal he can give me". I understand he's trying to be nice by doing that, and he's not charging me eBay prices, but the thing that irks me is knowing he still bought it for nothing and is trying to sell it to me at an inflated price. If I would've gotten to it first, I could've had the glory and excitement of finding something at an amazing deal, and I would've actually kept it for my collection.
Then if he has something I want and vice versa, and we do a "trade", he ends up getting more for his trade, because he also wants to leave room for profit, not do an "even" trade. So basically dealing with him is no different than dealing with a store. I got tired of doing things like that, and that's why I decided to start buying/selling/trading here on Racketboy, because most people don't run stuff like that around here. And I'm pretty sure you can check my sale thread and see that I'm not trying to rip anyone off, not that anyone has accused me of that, but I'm just saying, I try to give good deals because I want to get good deals. I like helping people out, and I like giving good deals on things, if anything I lose more money than I make, but whatever. It all goes towards more games anyway.

Re: Video Game "Finds of the Day"
My first find came from Gumtree, don't know if you have it in America but it's much the same as Craig's List.
It was too far away to be collected so the lady kindly agreed to post it to me. It was the condition of the box that sold it to me however the lady didn't mention the poly tray was missing

Cost £25 + £10 postage
My next find came from someone where I work.
When they heard I was a collector they mentioned that they had some stuff in thier loft/attic that I was welcome to, for FREE
That was about a month ago.
Chatting to them last week they mentioned they were looking for an exercise bike
I just happened to have one sitting in my garage which has had very little use since buying it new about 6 years ago. So the trade was set
This is what they gave me...

I didn't discover Zelda II until I got home and lifted the NES's flap to put a game in
BONUS!!
Today I shelled out a large amount of cash for six boxes full of goodies. There are about 100 games and various systems including an Asian MD and a very nice looking boxed Master Sysyem Plus
I will put a post up once i've sorted it all out.
