I just watched Ju-On: The Grudge 2. I had this hyped a bit as being a better film than the first Ju-On: The Grudge...I don't agree, though I've got a few reasons that may hinder my opinion.
First of all, the whole "crawling pale Japanese woman with long black hair" has been really popular, likely due to the popularity of the first Ju-On and Ringu. And since I've seen several films with this type of monster, I'm kind of bored with the idea.
Second, while I liked the arrangement of the film after I figured out the way it was structured, I spent the first half of the movie wondering why the ghosts were going after these characters(I honestly thought it was because Masaki ran over a cat at the beginning of the film). I'm still not entirely sure what was going on with the Japanese schoolgirls.
Third...was the whole birth thing really necessary? I don't mean the scene, I mean the plot point in general? It just felt...stupid, I guess, even if it was integral to the story.
However, I will say that Ju-On: The Grudge 2 definitely kept the same great cuts and ghost placements of the first, including a particular shot where one character gets up out of his chair and walks off camera(and the woman is suddenly on the far side of the room when he gets up). I enjoyed that scene about as much as my favorite ghost shot in the first, where a door with a mirror is shut and momentarily shows the ghost boy in its reflection.
Overall I'd still rate the film highly, but the first just felt better. And while there are some annoying jump scenes, they're few and far between and the overall creepiness of the film really shines, which is something I tend to prefer in horror movies. I want them to leave me disturbed, not try to go for the cheap scare. I hate jump scenes, particularly because they always come equipped with a sudden massive increase in volume that hurts my ears. I'll take my disturbing Jacob's Ladder and Session 9 any day.

Village of the Damned (original). Pretty good.
Also recently got Battle Royale (seen it before) and The Monster Squad, and I'm expecting Audition.
Also, spotted lots of cool VHS tapes at the Hotline today, but no money yet. I get paid on Wednesday and hope that they'll still be there next week.

Battle Royale is good stuff. The second one is supposedly terrible, though I think even the idea of a second one is dumb so I'm not surprised. Plus the director died during filming and I believe his son took over.
Audition is good stuff. Its a very slow build to the end which is pretty awesome.

Is this the Japanese Battle Royale based on the book? Probably a dumb question, but I am not sure if there are other movies with that name. That book and the movie are pretty awesome. I did not know there was a second.

Since he mentioned Audition, I assumed he meant the Japanese Battle Royale. I really need to read the book at some point. Everything I've heard about the second says its terrible. Do not seek it and let us never speak of it again.

Battle Royale and Audition are awesome. I am assuming based on those choices you have already seen Old Boy. If you haven't definitely give it a watch.
EDIT: Also "A Tale of Two Sisters" and the original "The Eye" (not the shitty Alba remake)

Battle Royale sucks!
OK, I'm pretty contrarian, but I'm not THAT contrarian. Battle Royale is excellent. I made sure to show it to my brother before he left to teach English to junior high students in Japan.
And speaking of Oldboy, an Indian friend of mine the other day told me that there was a really horrible Indian remake of that film.

Yes, I have Oldboy, but still need to watch the other 2 of the revenge trilogy. The oneshot of the hammer hallway is just fantastic.
I also have The Eye, The Eye 2, and The Eye Infinity. First is awesome, second is ok, third is crap.
Tale of Two Sisters is sort of on my radar, but haven't seen it yet.
