If someone is only going to give them the occasional play every now and then, I can understand leaning towards mame. But the port quality is outstanding, and far surpasses mame/pcb.
Sort of off topic for this thread though, mostly just wanted an insight to a complete collection from a fellow with excellent taste

I'm not trying to be a pedantic dick, but Mushihimesama Futari works great in MAME (version 0.143u8):

I'll take a peek, thanks.

The CV1000 drivers in mame are inaccurate. It doesn't have slowdown, introduces input lag, all that stuff.
Like I said, though, still good enough for a cursory glance. But mame scores, specifically for sh3 hardware games, are not accepted almost anywhere for this reason
As someone who has, no joke, played hundreds of hours of Futari, it takes about 2 minutes to feel glaring inaccuracies.
Plus, the ports are just better than thearcade boards. Better music, more exclusive modes, Futari actually has less lag than the pcb, replays and leaderboards, practice modes, etc.
If its mostly a price thing, then another one that was selling around $15 was the EU release of Dodonpachi Resurrection, which works on us consoles.
I guess I should specify I also don't mean to come off as a dick or elitist or whatever, just sharing what I've learned, and always gotta encourage people give Cave games some love <3

Well as much as you guys love Futari, maybe I'll just cave and buy it on 360. PEER PRESSURE UGH
A lot of the popular Cave shmups got quality PC ports. Dodonpachi Resurrection is one of them. Mushihimesama and Deathsmiles also did. I have all those for PC at least.
I should also mention, I love shmups, but more classically designed ones. I'm not a big fan of bullet hell shmups.

Yeah, I saw Silpheed and Odemedius and thought maybe you prefered the old school style of shooters. Of those on the 360, my picks would be Eschatos (region-free, spiritual succesor to Judgement Silversword on the Wonderswan), and Raiden Fighters Aces (us release, comp of all 3 RF games. These work well in mame though, so there is that.
And yes, my love for Futari is both gross, and probably over-documented on these forums

Same...
... but then I played Mushihimesama. Might be a new favorite of mine next to Thunder Force IV. Mushi just straight up
feels incredible even if you're not out to 1CC it or even dying a lot, it doesn't matter. It just feels freaking awesome to play. The Steam release has been up for years and there doesn't seem to be any other Cave PC news from what I've seen, so I'm not sure if Futari will be ported or what. But $30 seems justified to me. I hear it's harder and I don't even know if I'll bother to 1CC any of these, but if it's anything like the first, these are shmups I can see myself going back to a lot.
I can't provide any specific details myself, but dunpeal isn't alone... one of my good friends is crazy on Cave games and seems to say the same about MAME's inaccuracies with some of the games. My friend just 1CC'd Maniac this week haha. I'd like to get a decent universal arcade stick sometime.
Dondonpachi sounds easier and I have that on Steam, excited to check it out.
Personally didn't care for Deathsmiles, I beat it and don't think I'll play it again. Trouble Witches Origin seems cooler to me.
I still prefer the 16bit Genesis styled horizontal sci-fi mecha stuff, but yeah I want to check out everything Cave now.

Death Smiles is a bit overhyped. Eschatos II is much better. Mush is just outstanding.
