I will say the kid was being polite, yes. He didn't start his conversations yelling or whatever. But the cop was working a DUI check point on a holiday.
Cops usually have inferiority complexes, mixed with high stress from a holiday and holiday traffic, added to a strong possibility of DUI law breakers because of the holiday... the guys are gonna be on edge, and pissy.
Cop asks the kid "roll your window down" and he starts up with "this is fine, am I being detained, i dont have to show you my ID if I didnt break a law, etc etc etc."
Come on dude. Hes trying to do his sucky job, just roll down the window, let him see youre not drunk and he'll tell you to move along. Seriously.
