Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

Up to lvl31 and finally a bard. :)

Lvl31 archer/bard, lvl15 pugilist, lvl8 lancer

Still loving it. Probably have played about 50 hours since last Friday evening. Mostly because of holidays and an unusual lack of weekend plans before the holidays.

Defeated Dullahan (another boss I never liked), and got the Falcon.

How different is A Realm Reborn from the original FF XIV? Can players from one version interact with those from another?

Does FF XIV have a "main story" that can be completed?

I think there was a world event for original FFXIV players that turned it in to ARR. But don't quote me on that. I am not 100% sure. Yes, players can interact provided they are on the same server. Or interact in the cross server dungeons.

FFXIV does have a main story. I admit that I only half pay attention to it because it's padded with so many fetch quests as you'd expect from a very expansive MMO/RPG.

The original XIV was taken down with an event, which has been made part of the ARR plotline (more or less, shown in the opening movie/trailer). It's no longer available, as ARR is the new version of the game.

XIV has a storyline, but it'll get added to with expansions or content updates I'm sure. XI expanded the "main" storyline across two expansions, and even then still added lore and such that tied back to it for years.

XIV was horrible. ARR is awesome. That is the difference. I mean really, such a good turnaround.

Lvl40 now. Probably won't play tonight, but if I do end up not having plans the goal will be lvl43.

Here's my HUD from a few days ago. I've moved around a few skills since and gained some levels but the overall look is the same. Still evolving as I figure out what works best. I've basically just pushed most things outward and added a 5th bar with some basic things. Made the hot bars smaller too.

Finally finished up Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arsien. The end boss of the Dark Arisen section is a total ass. He has everything that could make a boss fight annoying: loads of health and massive resistance to damage, he's very fast and very strong, he spams powerful magic when cornered, he will target your weakest pawn and eliminate them and he has a move that will one hit kill you if it catches you. And I found out on the wiki he has a GnG style second form that appears once you do the dungeon again. Balls to it.

Wooo! Finally got around to beating Icewind Dale II, being the last of the Infinity Engine games on my backlog. The final fight is interesting; the first time I tried it I tried to zerg down the bosses and ignore the minions and I got trashed. Second time I cleared out the minions and discovered that the bosses don't really do that much damage (certainly less than a miniboss I had to fight shortly before them); they just have fantastic durability, giving the minions a chance to slice open my back.
