@SpaceBooger

I had no idea you coached track! I used to do some coaching myself, and was a track official for a few years.

Also - 4x200?! Is that a common relay in your state?

I brought headphones to school today. So I get to listen to Kamen Rider music on Youtube while I do Integrated Business Apps. YES!
Insert clever quote here.

Smile - My wife and I bought two deep billy bookcases and door sets for them over the weekend and last night assembled both of the bookcases in under thirty minutes.

Ticked - Installing the doors on one of them took the better part of an hour and a half. I gave up on installing them on the other bookcase until tonight.

Smile - They are spaced just barely far enough apart that we can still watch movies in the living room/library, atleast until we buy the rest of the bookcases.

And installing the push to open function. Push to open took a good thirty minutes each. I told my wife that I am just going to get knobs for all of them so we dont have to mess with that ever again, but, well, you know how that goes.

Oh boy, unfortunately I do know how that goes. Many a time have I cursed the pottery barn and crate & barrel. And STRONGER MAGNETS! Why don't they use stronger magnets to keep the push to open functioning properly? Or just use stronger magnets in general?

There's also nothing like following every instruction to a T, only to see a door droop a bit. And the slightest of "droopage" is obvious. Frustrating stuff.

It frustrates me more than I can say. To the extent that I almost took a sander to it last night to get rid of that slight edge... Sadly they are not made of real wood so I cannot do that.

Thankfully our shelving in the garage is made by the good folks at Edsal and thanks to its steel design, there is no drooping. Best $70 on shelves you can spend. My fathers have taken daily punishment for thirty years and still are solid.

Smile - Thanks to years of working on it, one of my pipedream ideas might actually be coming around. I might finally be able to finagle a video wall controller for under $1000.

Men around the world sympathize with you.

I remember when I was putting together our living room entertainment center my wife actually asked "Do you want to take a break and have a beer?". I was probably cursing like Old Man Parker when I put that thing together. I know for a fact I said things my Father would say such as, "When you pay this much for quality furniture you don't want to f--k it up, but you also don't want to spend the entire f---king day putting it together", "These instructions MUST be missing a step", with sprinkles of "God Dammit!" here and there.

Makes it more frustrating when you know you way overpaid for what you bought. Wood and screws are pret-ty expensive.

Not really ticked, but...well, not happy.

My mother has been undergoing tests to see if she has cancer.

A dog we had in our family for 16 years broke her leg over the weekend, so it was time to let her go. Her eyesight and hearing had both been going for several years, but we had decided to not do anything until she got to the point she couldn't move. Unfortunately that point came Saturday. I'll miss you, Ruthie. You were always my favorite dog. Almost 18 years old, what a life.

A friend of mine is getting a divorce and about to engage in a custody battle for his daughter. That's not going to be fun.

A custody battle is not good for anyone. (Not even the lawyers...even experienced family law attorneys generally end up heartbroken.) I hope that your firiend is able to resolve the situation amicably.

I am also sorry to hear about your pet. I know it is not much consolation when you lose a friend, but 18 years is a very long life for a dog, and I suspect that you and your family treated her very well. There is no tragedy in a long, happy life, and I sure that you will remember her fondly.
