1. Led Zeppelin (Traveling Riverside Blues, Battle of Evermore, Bron-y-Aur, and any cover medley from their concert)
2. Jeff Buckley (Last Goodbye, Eternal Life, Grace)
3. Nirvana (unplugged album)
4. Bryan Ferry (Slave to Love, Smoke Gets into Your Eyes, Love is the Drug)
5. The Smiths (Paint a Vulgar Picture, Panic, Hand in Glove)
6. Soundgarden (The Day I Tried to Live, Fell on Black Days, Like Suicide)
7. The Doors (Soft Parade, The End, Light My Fire)

The thing I really like about Led Zeppelin was their ability to improvise in concerts with extended jams, segues. Every concert was different.

Jeff Buckley was someone I didn't like the first couple of listens. I actually returned the CD back to the store (one of those try it and return if you don't like it). But someone kept recommending him and I gave it another listen and was hooked.

Honorable mentions: Dio's Black Sabbath, Tori Amos, Rush, Allman Brothers, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood/Traffic, New Order, Cure)

My all time faves are:

1. The Rolling Stones
2. The Beatles
3. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
4. Bob Dylan (well, he usually has a backup band :) )
5. The Pretenders
5a. The Who

My more recent top 4 (minus one because of 6 above) would include:

1. The Black Crowes
2. The White Stripes
3. The Hush Sound
4. The Donnas

My top 5 list consists of a bunch of really obscure bands that no one is cool enough to have ever heard.

I weep for everyone's poor choices regarding music. If only you guys had impeccable taste like me....

Everything I like is awesome.

x2

Except you can put Metallica on the top of my list, the other four are way too cool, obscure, and awesome for you all to fathom.

Enjoy your crap-ass music :D

I don't know, I can never give myself a favorite band because what I'm listening to changes constantly, though Earth, Wind, and Fire always holds an extremely high slot. Lately I've been listening to the black side of Queen II a lot. You know, Ogre Battle, The Fairy Feller's Master Stroke, Nevermore, The March of the Black Queen, etc., etc., and so on. Good stuff.

I'm really looking forward to seeing them with Chicago this month.

It takes a great album to inspire a great game. Now if we could only get a new Ogre Battle game (and no Tactics Ogre stuff). Soul Nomad was a decent compromise, but I want my real time movement and liberation.
