It's hilarious, 'cause you can see so much of it is done with a wink and a nod. Man, it's hard to believe that battle raged like it did. (Actually, not really.)
Also, Nintendo was the best, and anyone that says otherwise is wrong.

I got into Game Sack a bit late I guess, but when Final Bosses came around and I followed them a bit and saw some live Joe stream stuff, you could see how salty the online communities get him. Then they even took a break for a few months last year I think (maybe not the first time?).
So yeah I have no idea what their fanbase is or was like, but even as a Nintendo kid myself his undeniable love for Sega WAY over Nintendo cracks me up and never irritated me. His cynicism and extremely dry humor in general just cracks me up. They have the best weirdest polls on twitter.

I think Joe's delivery is a bit better, too, although Dave does alright. But yeah, it never irritates me, either. I think in retrospect I have a lot of respect for Sega and what they pulled off. (Not to mention I used to salivate over games like Phantasy Star IV and Shining Force in magazines. They were RPGs I'd never get a shot at, or at least that's how it felt at the time.)

I guess since it also fits this thread... I can easily say I'm a way bigger Streets of Rage guy over Final Fight.

I don't see what's wrong with recognizing the better beat 'me up series.

"Streets of Rage > Final Fight"
I just don't get it.

About Game Sack, Joe said it best when talking about F-Zero GX
"That's right, only Sega had the proper skill to make a Nintendo game." And made it they did. That was also a RB member's signature.

Watch it, that's a touchy subject.
I grew up with FF because I had a SNES. I just wish the first one wasn't censored to all heck and offered multiplayer.
I played SOR later, but couldn't get into it nearly as much as FF.

Same here I don't see the appeal of SoR as much either other than the fact it was a blatant attempt to come off more rock n roll in the audio and edgier in general. I thought the FF game was the better overall play experience all around, even if it was butchered a bit on the SNES. FF2 was fairly plain but the FF3 release now that one was just beam em up excellence. It's not really a Nintendo thing with me on this either because back in the day I had more time on the arcade game probably than the SNES one so I was quite familiar with both.

Both games are great. Streets of Rage is better.

Still is! I love that quote, and it's been my signature since that particular episode of Game Sack was released.
Regarding the discussion:
I played Final Fight first, via the arcade cab, and I'm particularly fond of Final Fight 3. But if you ask me Streets of Rage is the better series and I'd take it every time.
But really, I just love beat 'em ups (even bad ones to be honest) and don't feel a need to actually choose.
I also bought Paprium despite the price. It looks good.
