Have some of the usual members left Racketboy forums ?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

For reals, I was barely aware that King's Field was a thing before Exhum started enthusing about it. So there's another brain you opened up a bit.

Got this from a Mod today, three times at that:

This is a warning regarding the following post made by you: viewtopic.php?f=15&p=1008991#p1008991 .

See that part where you called another member a "whiny cunt"? That shit is unacceptable. Do it again (or something similar) and you're out on your ass.

So...Mods can curse as much as want and disallow free speech? Good job to prove my exact point. And this post will be deleted by the mods, without a doubt, but thank God for Print Screen. Plus the kicker is I'm at fault for calling a whiny cunt, who is known for being a whiny cunt, and mods have frequently attacked him.

Plus the PM reads:

This is a warning regarding the following post made by you: viewtopic.php?f=15&p=1008991#p1008991 .

See that part where you called another member a "whiny cunt"? That shit is unacceptable. Do it again (or something similar) and you're out on your ass.

"Shit", "On your ass"? What the fuck does that even mean? Way to go.

And doesn't someone whining like a cunt to the mods make one a whining cunt?

You guys wonder why everyone is leaving? Jesus.

Idiots.

Keep the circle jerk running.

Rather than cite people or mods or nasty behavior, let us look at this differently. How about a strong insistence on people not starting a thread that may have been done in the past. I have seen people strongly discouraged from creating new threads for topics that may have been discussed in the past. Told to search and then read through whatever amount of pages may have been posted to find the info or generated discussion they are looking for.

I agree that the site could and would be cluttered with all new threads if not discouraged to some degree. Though, by prohibiting it or completely discouraging re-hashing old topics you are not letting people who may have posted in the new topic, if they had not seen the old one. Not saying that a topic could not be bumped but sometimes starting fresh may cause someone to post something relevant and create new or better discussion. Think of it this way, if a person in front of you brings up something you have discussed in the past do you tell them it is an old topic and just refer to what I said before? I really feel discouraging starting topics anew and creating traffic in the forums will help keep people and bring people in. I am not saying let the site become a mess, but if someone starts a thread that was done before let some of them go. Do not force people to sift through 40 pages of ramble to see if someone may have already said what they wanted to say.

If I am wrong in this opinion, sorry. If it is only a fantasy in my head that this happens, then sorry again. I just feel fresh posting is not encouraged enough here. Also, I am tired, so if this is incoherent, well.......

I hate laptops with mouse pads. I lean on it sometimes and damn it screws up things LOL.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find any instances in the history of the site of one member/mod calling another member/mod a "cunt" and not getting at least a warning.

I agree that the site could and would be cluttered with a new thread every time someone as about a repeated topic. No worries, I understand this issue. We just don't want folks to clutter up pages with the same topics over and over again, but we don't really have a set date on such things.

For instance, Exhuminator just created a thread about white whales in games. Turns out Dsheinem created the same kind of thread...back in 2009. Heck, that thread is ancient, I don't think will or should criticize Exhum for creating a new thread on the topic. But stuff that occurred just a month or two before, that might even be on the same page of certain forums, that's a little different(or sometimes within a day or two of each other). I've certainly seen some members point out related threads from a couple of years ago at times, but I don't think that happens too often. Really I think we have a bigger issue with folks creating the same kind of thread in different subforums at the same time.

I just really feel we need to encourage people to bring discussion to the forum, even if it has been done before.
