I reloaded just now, played for 10 minutes, and bam, frozen again.

I seem to be getting the worst of this >_<

Huh, it looks like Justin doesn't get many forest element spells, and Feena doesn't get many lightning element spells (which is really annoying considering she starts with fire).

Justin gets loads of water, ice, fire and lightning spells mind. Earth is probably wasted on him early on.

Feena gets lots of ice and water spells. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say she probably gets more forest spells too. Fire is the least useful element for her, despite her starting with it ¬_¬

I had it freeze once more recently (third time total) but it was right after I started so it wasn't a real problem. I just made it to Misty Forest! MAKIN' PROGRESS.

I'm liking the game as a whole but am still not a fan of the dungeons. The 3D seems SO AWKWARD and even inconsequential treasures are hidden in places where they can barely be seen. This wouldn't be such a huge deal, but I'm paranoid that I'm going to miss a Mana Egg somewhere. I want full magics! (So far I have Justin knowing Fire/Wind/Water, Sue with Water/Earth, and Feena with Fire/Earth.)

Wait, so the "special" elements are actually based on which character is learning them and not what level the main-elements are?

Yeah, certain characters can learn certain spells that others can not, based on who they are and what elements they have.

Also, don't worry about the mana eggs. Right now, about 22 hours in, I have 3 mana eggs sitting here with Sue having 3 spell elements and Justin and Feena with 2. Just got to a place where I can use them, so it is time to figure out where to go next.

I hit about 21 hours in today. I'm at Typhoon Tower.

My team stats: (no character spoilers, I'm just saving space!)
Justin
Level 14
Sword 8
Mace 13
Axe 8
Fire 1
Wind 13
Water 17
Earth 1

Sue
Level 12
Mace 11
Bow 10
Water 13
Earth 13

Feena
Level 14
Knife 10
Whip 15
Fire 9
Wind 13
Water 12
I'm concerned about levelling Justins Fire and Earth magic. They were a pain to level on Feena and Sue because the fire spell doesnt hit very wide and earth doesnt have many attack options.

I am very surprised at people's magic stats compared to weapon stats. I have been really focusing on just unlocking moves and spells. My characters all have their weapon skills at around 20 for each weapon type and magic is around 10 for each element. The fire element, once you unlock the level 2 spell for it, opens up tons of opportunities to level up. I was able to level it up very fast back in the Dom ruins, fighting blobs. I let them multiply like crazy and then use the level one fire spell. It went up incredibly fast at that point.

It is important to mention that two factors determine how fast those spells level up. The first is the level of the spell. Level 1 spells don't give as much experience versus a level 2 spell and also how many people get hit by it. If it affects more people, the more experience you get. I am sure a lot of people know that, but for some, it may be some food for thought.

Damn aj caught right up with me! Gonna try to take on Typhoon Tower tonight. That rainy forest area was kind of annoying, fighting those moldy bird things again and again. I actually left partway through - to use the Mana Egg in town - so all the enemies respawned once again when I re-entered.

Justin and Feena both have water, fire, earth, and wind magic, while Sue just has earth and water.

And I wouldn't worry too much about leveling. This game is shockingly easy so far. Unless the difficulty somehow ramps up considerably at hour 25 or something it seems like simply engaging every enemy and using a wide variety of moves/magic is enough to stay far ahead of your combatants.

I just beat the Typhoon Tower last night and left it at that there. So far, nothing crazy difficult. The boss was a bit more, "challenging," but at no point was he difficult. Just had a gimmick you had to figure out to make it easier.

just finished up Dom Ruins. Whoever nominated this game, good call. I'm enjoying it almost as much as Grandia II now, and starting to think that Grandia in general is one of my favorite RPG series.
