Id say they are of similar quality, but Chikfila's spicy chicken biscuit has no equal.

I lived in the northeast for several years, and I can assure you that I had my stomach turned by more than few diners. :) (That said, I did learn to appreciate quality scrapple - "the livermush of the north".)

.....

My favorite breakfast locations in Charlotte are:

Zada Jane's Corner Cafe - Good "southern hippie" breakfast within walking distance from my home. My wife and I are regulars.

Cuzcatlan Restaurant - Great Central-American breakfast. A $6 platter will last you all day.

Bistro La Bon - The brunch here is great.

Outside of Charlotte, my favorite brekfast location in NC is Sunny Point Cafe. It is too delicious for words. The Saxapahaw General Store is the runner-up, and I try to stop in whenever I visit my parents.

Denny's kicks ass. I like to build my own slam.

Waffle House is also a chain, albeit a chain of diner-like establishments. But no, they aren't my preference.

They are however, my favorite restaurant period.

As chains go they aren't bad I suppose (a notch above fast food and preferable to Denny's), but they are low on my list of places I'd want to eat...pretty much any kind of meal.

Disrespecting Waffle House should be a bannable offense.
