A pretty healthy list of exclusives if you ask me.
And yeah, a part of the DC library has been ported to other platforms, bet they rarely stack up to their original releases on Dreamcast.
you're the exact type of fan i was mentioning lol. i think it's unfair to shrug off my opinion; everyone's entitled to their own. i'm just trying to say if someone came up to me being like "should i buy a dreamcast what are some good games" i'd tell them no because they can download almost all the most memorable titles on something like xbla or psp. i consider it sort-of fanboyish to say something like "they rarely stack up to their original releases" when games like jet grind radio, power stone, or sonic adventure have all had graphical upgrades and additional content added to them. there was still a ton of money to be made off the amazing titles dreamcast had so most of them were ported to realize their full potential after dc wasn't selling so hot.

All i did was show you a list of games that are IN FACT exclusive to the list nothing more.

I considering it rather hilarious that 2 out of your 3 or your examples do little to refute my "sort-of fanboyish" remark. Both versions, Power stone and 2 on PSP look like junk and perform even worse. Degraded textures, visuals and a laughable framerate that simply can't accommodate the game. Sonic Adv on 360 was a missed opportunity. Visually speaking and then some, the port was handled terribly. And you call that graphical updates?
there was still a ton of money to be made off the amazing titles dreamcast had so most of them were ported to realize their full potential after dc wasn't selling so hot.

Yeah I guess so. A glitchy port of MvC2 and a port of Crazy Taxi with a stripped out soundtrack is def realizing the full potential of each game

The Dreamcast is an amazing system for exclusives. And yeah, the majority of Dreamcast ports haven't measured up to the quality of the original DC versions.

whatever man i'm not here to argue with you i don't work for sony. i think the attitude you use to address the points i bring up is immature & unfriendly; i didn't mean to come off as derogatory towards something you enjoy i was just trying to suggest something different than most people would say to foster conversation. op just asked what people keep their dremcast around for in a market full of ports & sequels so i guess you contributed to his question more than me but you don't have to be so defensive about it that's not what i expected from this community. enjoy the games you listed i'm sure they're good.

Most, if not all of the ports that have come from the Dreamcast to the current generation consoles pale in comparison compared to their Dreamcast versions. I'd be more inclined to believe your point ac_90, if maybe the teams that ported them handled their development a little better. I have several of the titles you've mentioned on both Dreamcast and their digital re-release, and they're no where near as good as the original version. On top of that, CD AGES list of exclusives has several titles that are still very enjoyable today that you won't find elsewhere.
And off the bat, we're jumping to assumptions that people are being immature and unfriendly. Pro-tip: trying to discern tone from passive forms of communication is like herding cats. CD AGES is one of our most knowledgeable and friendly members we have here. It's highly unlikely that he's being unfriendly, or that there was any malice in his tone when conveying his point. Rather, you're calling into question the Dreamcast's worth based upon three or four versions of games you've played that have been ported to other systems, and ported poorly at that. That's where he's being a resource and enlightening you on what the system still offers. Knocking the system based upon a fairly narrow sampling of the games is hardly fair, that's the point he's making.

that's fair i agree thanks for that. i just wasn't expecting someone to call something i say "hilarious" & roll their eyes at it with sarcastic answers it just doesn't make me feel welcome. i get it though i can see how someone could see my comments as dismissive of the console; i just have a different perspective that's all i'll work on my wording for next time to each his own

Well calling my remark fanboy-ish wasn't very nice either

And yes I did find your statement hilarious. If you would have gone with more adequate example like say Rez on 360 then I would have no quarrel with what you were saying about quality Dreamcast ports on other consoles. As such I feel If you seriously think game like powerstone and Sonic Adv look and play better on other platforms, then I would assume you haven't played these games on Dreamcast lately if at all. And i love the fact that you would not recommend someone to get a Dreamcast in favor of digital re-released ports on other platforms... yet you seem to have a bone to pick with Nintendo for digitally re-releasing their back catalog of their games. Hypocrisy maybe
