I never played the NES Gyruss before today because I never thought much about the arcade game but it's a really fun version. I was really digging it.

Yeah. That game is awesome. I like it much more than the arcade version.

It adds a lot more you won't see in the arcade.

Also was there a reason we didn't add Seicross? I know Wikipedia has it listed as "Racing" but it's really, really not.

SSH was a great game. There even is a true shmup stage in it when you take on the plane form.
Seicross should be there and someone mentioned it in a bunch of Nihon Bussan games. I thought it'd be added for sure.

Reading this thread really intrigued me so I picked up Zanac and Xexez. Can't wait to get home and try them out tonight!
Glad to see the love for Life Force, Guardian Legend and Section Z. My best friend owned those and we played them quite often.
I had Alpha Mission (I always want to say Alpha Flight, eh.) It was a dog until I figured out how to use the power-up mechanic.

Alpha Mission is like that. Once you figure out how to build the armors and use them, it's not so crazy difficult. Just difficult
I really like the Neo Geo sequel better.

I REEEALY need to get a new pin connector for my NES. I could never get the Zanac to read.
I did manage to play XEXYZ for a while. It was pretty humbling as I couldn't ever get past the first level to the ship in the 2nd level. I did get really close, but gravity took over and I fell in the last pit. Must practice.

I recently discovered a homebrew vert that was inspired by Recca, called Blade Buster:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ara4M_6EB4It apparently runs just as fast on a cart. Itll be in one of my Homebrew purchases in the future.
