I've been playing Gex and Rayman recently. Been feeling a lot of 32 bit nostalgia lately for some reason. I also played a bit of Astal a little while back. Pretty game, but I thought the level designs were a bit too simple for my taste.

I started a new game of Mega Man X on SNES yesterday. I never finished this in the past, I'm going to try to make it all the way through this time. So far it's easier than I remember, but I'm sure that will change as I get further into it...

I also started a new game of Kirby's Adventure 3 yesterday. I almost got to the first boss and my wife bumped into the SNES causing it to freeze before I could save. :? Not sure if I'm going to start it up again in the near future.

Played 2 platformers last night, the expected difficulty was reversed.

Castlevania Bloodlines - got to stage 3 before needing a continue, will put some more time into this one. I think the last time I beat it was on an emulator more than 5 years ago

Rocket Knight adventures - Started stage 2 with 0 continues, on easy mode. Most lives lost to that goddamn flamewall in stage 1. This one seems doable but I think it will take more work than castlevania. Was kind of expecting an easy game for some reason so this was a bit jarring.

Played a selection of games last night, including Wonder Boy in Monster Land. I lost on the final boss. back to the start for me.

The one life system in this game is brutal.

Bloodlines is definitely an easier one, it's still pretty awesome though.

I love the music and character choices in that game.

I'm inclined to agree... and for an odd reason: the multi-directional whip. Most people cite that as the reason for why Castlevania IV is the best one, but I feel it takes away from it in some aspects. Besides making it quite a bit easier, it just really doesn't feel right.

MMX rules. It IS easy, except the freakin' penguin level. But besides that you can easily make it thru the main levels and face little challenge until Sigma's castle.

Now I pretty much can complete MMX without dying, but I think it was quite difficult to beat it when I didn't know the game.

kelsoanim, if you really want to finish it the first time around, get the Hadouken. You can beat Sigma's dog and Sigma's first form easily with it, rendering the third fight trivial.
