Sadly, I realized after taking them that I have no use for them. I've been converting all my cases over to thinpak cases to save room on my shelves - the only use I have for PS2 cases is to hold memory cards.
In my frustration I should have grabbed a few of those cases too.
Also pointless considering future game would have manual and cover tossed out.

You could always put them up for sale/trade on here, I'm sure a few people would have use for them.

Can't believe they're actually tossing out the cases now though. Does gamestop have a deep hatred for collectors or what?

Yes they do. Collectors don't sell games back to them.

Just a matter of saving space. You have any idea how many copies of old sports games they have there that are sub-$5?

It's a shame, but honestly, 99% of the games they are tossing cases to are completely worthless. They couldn't give 'em out for free.

Them throwing away cases has bothered me so much that I go to other Gamestop districts so I don't have to deal with it. What they should do is not make generic cases but keep any authentic cases. Here's some of the titles they throw cases away for that aren't garbage. Several are even on the hidden gems list.

Klonoa 2, Xenosaga 2, World Destruction League: Thunder Tanks, Mad Maestro, Gran Turismo 3, Silent Scope, Mobile Light Force 2, XIII, Lupin the 3rd, Zone of the Enders, ChoroQ, Battle Engine Aquila, Seek and Destroy, Front Mission 4, Rise Of The Kasai, Metal Arms: Glitch in the System, Soccer Slam, Bujingai: The Forsaken City, Head Hunter, Dual Hearts, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Wipeout, Maximo: Ghosts to Glory, Robotech: Invasion, Time Splitters, Egg Mania: Eggstreme Madness, Gadget Racers, Ring of Red, Aqua Aqua, Virtual on Marz, Ribbit King, GunGriffon Blaze, Virtual fighter 4, Unlimited SaGa, Road Trip, Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast, Mr. Mosquito, Castle Shikigami 2, Bombastic, Dead or Alive 2 Hardcore, Viewtiful Joe 2, Magic Pengel The Quest for Color, Silpheed The Lost Planet, The Mark of Kri, Shadow of Destiny, S.L.A.I. Steel Lancer Arena International, Chulip, Shinobi, Viewtiful Joe, Ecco the Dolphin, Red Star, Drakan: The Ancient's Gate, Barbarian, Amplitude, Alien Hominid, Legaia 2: Dual Saga

See how many hidden gems you can find. And any gamestop that still carries oXbox already has thrown out cases.
Where's my chippy? There's my chippy.

The stupid movie rental stores, defunct Hollywood Video notorious for this.
Hollywood Video game cover and generic DVD case almost as bad as the Gamestop generic Anima covers.
However in Gamestops defense starting to see the new logo ones with a more pro used look to them.

Funny enough I bought Disgaea 2 from a Hollywood Video and it actually had its original case.

...wow
I just realized, why cant they have the loose game in the cardboard box, then ask you at the counter of you want the case?
Is that so hard?

Logistical nightmare reversed to double nightmare. No way of getting that original manual and cover.

First the New Retro Racks you have to flip through, now these dumb cardboard trays to save space.
Space now wasted on A-Frame Ad boards. Corporate is reeeeally outta touch with the gamer.

My local Pawn shop is actually cleaner and friendlier than Gamestop, and their merchandise is in better condition. The game discs are scratch-free in their original cases with manuals included. They give me time to pick out a game on my own without bothering me, and when I do select the game I want the cashier doesn't try to sell me a subscription to his magazine. The local pawn shop beats Gamestop hands down.
