Hopefully this means less Shitty music for a year

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

If you want to jump on the "blame the music" bandwagon, why don't you blame Metal, Punk, Psychedelic, well fuck it, almost every sub genre of Rock and Roll. They all promote drug use, most of them promote violence, and they definitely all promote "general ignorance." It's not as if Rap came along and it was the first genre that seemed to tackle subversive content. This has gone on for years, and there's no point in blaming one genre when it's just as prevalent a message in many others. It's totally great that you've decided to become this generations old fogies, yelling at the new craze, be sure to tell me how the next record bonfire goes.

Second of all, if you really think all of that is subversive and shouldn't promote such a bad message, why on earth are you on a video game forum? Why is this bad and the heap upon heaps of violence and wrong doing in our favorite past time OK? Sure, hip hop and rap culture has the whole celebrity factor to adhere to, but surely video gaming has you actually committing the crime. Isn't that worse?

Finally, I'm glad that you guys think that you can separate yourself from the masses and decide that you are above the hypnotic influence of the times. It isn't the terrible conditions of their neighborhood, schools, and prolonged lifestyle stuck in almost federally mandated issue of neglect. It's Little Wayne that causes them to commit crimes. It's funny because when you see a lot of these people rapping in your shitty neighborhoods, its because they want a way out. You can say that there's a terrible message in the crime in rap, but almost every rap superstar has at least one hit song that's about making it out of their terrible situation through rap. How incredibly audacious of them to sit around and rap on the corners, fuck having hope, huh?

Well first of all thanks for creating a rather extensive opinion for me out of a pretty simple statement :P . Secondly rap is unique in that a large enough amount of the music is explicitly about violence, drugs, etc that it has it's own subgenre. Yes, those topics come up in other genres of music, but it's not even close to being that simple.

Music that depicts crime in a positive manner is a result, not a cause, of crime. There's so many reasons why poor communities have problems that have nothing to do with music, some of them are unique to different cultures, some aren't.
Now as for people wanting a way out, there's nothing wrong with trying to work your way out of a shitty situation, and living in a shitty neighborhood doesn't leave you a ton of options on how to do that. So clearly the solution is to do what random rapper X makes music about, and mess up your own community by breaking into your neighbors houses, selling drugs, fighting, abusing women etc. etc. etc. Yeah, that'll work.

the racist undertones in those types of statements are unfathomably clear.

Ah yes, because pointing out the negative impact of rap and the culture it creates within poor communities must be racist.

I fucking hate when inconsiderate assholes are playing rap music in their car super fucking loud with booming fucking bass that can be heard anywhere in a 5 block radius.

It's like saying "Hey everyone! I don't give a fuck about annoying you all with my loud sound system and horrible music. I also don't care about being able to hear any emergency vehicles. Fuck you all. I am an asshole and I want everyone in town to know it."

Fact: There's more violence in predominantly black areas
Fact: Most rappers are black

I knew racism would end up being brought up, but it has nothing to do with anything anyone is saying. Facts simply mean that, yes, there's statistically good chance that the people we're talking about are black.

Meh. I'm so stuck in the past for music, that I wouldn't really know that theres less shitty new music coming out this year :D

Though I'm not a fan of Rap and Hip Hop music, I do have the full 15 minute version of Rapper's Delight on my iPod. Does that give me street cred?

Depends on what your buying. For example we were selling, to stay on topic, Lil Wayne Tha Carter IV for $11.99 for the regular and $13.99 for the deluxe. Is it the best price no, but its not the worse either. Most new releases we sell for $9.99 to $11.99.

Like anything its best to shop around. We also offer some bad prices and some really good. But there is always used if you want to save a little more.

But really where else can you find the more obscure releases in most cities besides online or the rare mom and pop music stores?

Obviously new releases are cheaper for the first week or so at any store but when the prices regulate to normality the prices spike up. The F.Y.E. I live close by for example has has ridiculous prices for albums that are 10+ years old. 18.99 for Reasonable Doubt is just too much. Used Cd's do work with that buy '3 or more used' deals but there is hardly anything good to pick up so I tend to just stay away from that. Thankfully there is a 'Mom and Pop' Rap store in the area :D

We got the raw rugged Wildflower and touching soft All That I Got Is You

I should just go into mjmjr25s bst thread and learn how to do that but its late and copy paste is so much faster.

I'll see your wildflower and raise you a verbal intercourse (it would have been "Run" ghostface and jadakiss but I wanted to keep the sameish time frame).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoMPxSi9 ... re=related

And as the soft touching? I don't condone that shit in hip hop seriously "All that I got is a really dope song but stapleton sex is much more my level.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3G0yyquEIE

Sidenote for anyone that even remotely enjoys hip hop look up the album all day by girltalk. Thank me later seriously just google girltalk I think all the dudes albums are free to download too.
