If you want to jump on the "blame the music" bandwagon, why don't you blame Metal, Punk, Psychedelic, well fuck it, almost every sub genre of Rock and Roll. They all promote drug use, most of them promote violence, and they definitely all promote "general ignorance." It's not as if Rap came along and it was the first genre that seemed to tackle subversive content. This has gone on for years, and there's no point in blaming one genre when it's just as prevalent a message in many others. It's totally great that you've decided to become this generations old fogies, yelling at the new craze, be sure to tell me how the next record bonfire goes.
Second of all, if you really think all of that is subversive and shouldn't promote such a bad message, why on earth are you on a video game forum? Why is this bad and the heap upon heaps of violence and wrong doing in our favorite past time OK? Sure, hip hop and rap culture has the whole celebrity factor to adhere to, but surely video gaming has you actually committing the crime. Isn't that worse?
Finally, I'm glad that you guys think that you can separate yourself from the masses and decide that you are above the hypnotic influence of the times. It isn't the terrible conditions of their neighborhood, schools, and prolonged lifestyle stuck in almost federally mandated issue of neglect. It's Little Wayne that causes them to commit crimes. It's funny because when you see a lot of these people rapping in your shitty neighborhoods, its because they want a way out. You can say that there's a terrible message in the crime in rap, but almost every rap superstar has at least one hit song that's about making it out of their terrible situation through rap. How incredibly audacious of them to sit around and rap on the corners, fuck having hope, huh?
Well first of all thanks for creating a rather extensive opinion for me out of a pretty simple statement

Music that depicts crime in a positive manner is a result, not a cause, of crime. There's so many reasons why poor communities have problems that have nothing to do with music, some of them are unique to different cultures, some aren't.
Now as for people wanting a way out, there's nothing wrong with trying to work your way out of a shitty situation, and living in a shitty neighborhood doesn't leave you a ton of options on how to do that. So clearly the solution is to do what random rapper X makes music about, and mess up your own community by breaking into your neighbors houses, selling drugs, fighting, abusing women etc. etc. etc. Yeah, that'll work.
