They said that they would keep the servers on at least until next March. It can go on after that, if there's demand.

Is the online stuff really that important to enjoying the game? I actually almost nabbed a copy of Demon's Souls today. They had it new at Gamestop for 29.99 and apparently it was also part of some supersaver promotion they have going on too

Some nice finds I saw today. They also had two used copies of Pikmin 2 for 39.99. If I knew anyone in Brandon FL that was looking for that game I'd tell them to go to that Gamestop

I didn't think about the server requirements for this game until now. This does kindof suck, because one of the main reasons this game is so awesome and seminal is the emergent online play. Even when playing singleplayer and not invading or assisting other players, or vice versa, the online functionality is integral to the experience. Without these aspects the game would just be a fucking hard hack n' slash or adventure game, whatever you want to call it. Playing this game offline, even single player, is nowhere near as enjoyable or interesting - no messages, no shadows running around, no bloodstains. That this will be pulled from underneath our feet at some point will cripple the gameplay and this will no longer be a classic game. People complain that they will no longer be able to download DLC games at some point in the future when the server support is no longer provided, and this game will be the same. Of course we expect this with multiplayer only games like MAG and warhawk, but for a single player game.... I'm just bummed is all.

It's unnecessary but adds to the experience. Your first time through it's quite valuable to see the messages from other players and their bloodstains. Having people help you with bosses is nice, but every boss is soloable. And playing online means you can be invaded, which some people might not be interested in.

I don't think I'll mind much losing those features, but sucks for those people who enjoy them. Well online or not, I'll be grabbing a copy eventually. The price seems to be dropping on Demon's Souls and I'm going to want to get it soon before it starts getting hard to find.

But you know, it really sucks how unreliable online content is becoming over time. You know when Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 came out it had some extra characters through DLC, which I luckily downloaded. Then some lawsuit happened and apparently NO ONE can download that content now. So anyone who didn't get it when they had the chance is shit out of luck

It's a problem that's unique to the console platform. Since the PC is open everything is made available with minimal fuss. It is much harder to get DLC onto the consoles through non-official means.

I've been getting a bit pissed off with this game, and think I might have to restart. I've kind of backed myself into a corner by choosing knight as my starting class, doing a load of grinding and pumping my endurance up to 40 just so I can do a smooth forward role with the heavy knight armout. I'm level 51 now, and it's real hard to level up (16k souls) and I'm just not suited to any of the bosses i've got to take on to progress. I've not deleted the old carachter yet, but have been flirting with other classes - any recommendations?

The starting class in this game isn't that important, only in the very beginning. I'm sure you're aware of good soul farming techniques, but you should be able to get 16k souls without too much of a pain. Shrine of Storms is the best, as killing any of the skeleton enemies yields a lot of souls. Use Ring of Avarice of course, and be in black world tendency if possible for you. I'm guessing you're on your first playthrough, but on subsequent playthoughs the souls you receive become substantially higher too. As for the roll, you can always use the ring that makes you able to move better (Ring of Great Strength of or Ring of Herculean Strength, I forget). I'm a bit rusty on the technicalities of the game, but I think if your weight value is under 50% you can do a smooth roll. Someone else can probably explain this with more clarity. I'd just try to tough it out really, unless you feel you're that screwed or feel like starting a new game anyway. You may want to check this site out, it's the best Demon's Souls resource: http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/

I have a question for owners of the Asian/HK version of the game. First... are any of you here? If so, is anyone willing to help me get the elusive Pure Bladestone? Or at least trade/swap a weapon that has been upgraded fully with it. I want that trophy pretty badly and am too lazy to continue trying to get it myself heh. I have pretty much everything in the game but that, so I'm willing to trade you anything. I have all unique weapons, all rings, all of the fully upgraded weapons for each stone (meaning I can help you out if you're missing some weapon trophies also). I have some rare stones as well. PM me or post if we can help each other out. Whatever you're missing, the chances are I probably have it. My PSN ID is BRUNOAFH.

Shrine of Storms has one of the best leveling parts of the game. After beating the first boss (who is super easy to beat, no matter your stats) what you can do is spawn at his Archstone, kill a few dudes, then snipe the reaper at the bottom. Use the ring that makes it harder to see you. Then turn around and jump off the cliff to kill yourself to speed things up. When you respawn, repeat (pick up your souls from the bloodstain before you kill yourself again).
