Uncharted is far more shooting than climbing stuff, and the climbing is not even that great... but neither the shooting.

I think Crash is the less samey in terms of sequels from all the ones you have listed. The variety comes from the new abilities and stage themes.

I have not played Fall Out 2 yet so i can't share a opinion if it's really very diferent from the first one still you should play both, the first is a great game.

If you're are planing on tomb raider skip to the HD collection, it includes a remake of the first one minus the awkard tank controls that don''t fit at all in a action adventure platformer.

There is a lot of shooting. Actually, it's probably more like the Tomb Raider reboots... not the newest one, but the original set. Anniversary is splendid, by the way. The thing to remember about Uncharted is that it's all about the spectacle and characterization. And it does that very, very well. In that way, it's not unlike another Naughty Dog production, The Last of Us.

If you're going to play only one Devil May Cry game, make it DMC3.

Was reading some reviews and message board posts about Ys Book I & II on Steam.

Oh man, there are people who hate this game* (or, these games). There's no accounting for tastes, but some of these comments are just weird. Some folks don't seem to realize that these are actually retro games rebooted, many people apparently hate the (awesome) bump system, and so on...... Reading negative comments about things I love is always interesting and eye-opening.......

Also, I didn't realize that Pier Solar had such a middling reception. Thought it was universally acclaimed for some reason. I'll get to that one eventually. Yes Bone is going (slightly) digital.

* of course the main problem is that they didn't play the TurboGrafx CD version

It's okay man. Digital download only games existed before 1997, even on consoles.

That reminds me: I actually have a modem for my Commodore 64. Never used it though. Don't think I'd even know how.

And do not fear, I plan to turn all of my digital GOG games into physical games someday via DVD-Rs and printed cover art.

Can you tell me which game is similar to Fallout? Looks like Diablo. I have no idea about it.

Atari VCS 1977
Intellivision 1980
ColecoVision 1982
Famicom 1983
Master System 1985
PC Engine 1987
Mega Drive 1988
Super Famicom 1990

I also don't think the jump from 16 bit to 32 bit was that outrageous.
You are correct, I meant the biggest "era" jumps in a way. Everything pre-PC Engine seemed quite similar. There is a small jump from Atari age to Famicom, but I would say SNES/PC-Engine is the real jump.

As for the 16->32 not being outrageous I disagree. The jump from something like The Chaos Engine to MGS is very outrageous .

At that time, the 3D was jaw-dropping and as real as it gets. Thats how I remember it, we have to judge based on the time of release.

I don't completely disagree, which is why I mention the technical standpoint. It really was amazing to see 3D like that... but from an artistic point of view, the games looked far, far worse overall. I still think there was an incredible jump from what we saw on the PSX/Saturn/N64 up to the artistry on display with the PS2/GC/XBOX.

Also keep in mind that I'm a little bit of an art nerd, so I do try to look a bit more beyond the raw numbers... and that I'm really partial to 2D, which doesn't necessarily help my objectivity.

That being said, I remember being floored at what they were doing with the battles in FFVII. It's awfully quaint now, but pretty astounding for a console in those days. I'm sure PC folks were laughing at least a little bit, though.

Long story short, I think we're both right in ways, depending on which metric you use. ;)

I haven't played all of those, but I say that the first two GoW games are worth playing (haven't played GoW III yet). Might want to just play the third since every other GoW game I've played felt like renovations of the first title. Uncharted sucks; plain and simple. If you want to give it a try, the second title is in every way superior than the first so that'll give you a better impression of the series. I haven't played the third title, and I have no plans to. As for Devil May Cry, skip the second one. It's a boring piece of garbage vastly inferior to its predecessor and successor. I haven't played Fallout 1 or 2 yet embarrassingly.

Does anybody know if gamer pics (avatars I guess) transfer from PS3 to PS4? I was thinking of doing a very difficult run on a certain game to unlock a gamer pic, but I wanted to be sure it would transfer if I went through the hub-bub. It's a goofy badge of honor thing for me.
