The 7" from last night before bed was 18" (again) this morning. School canceled, took 2 hours to get work.
Sorta bummed as now my kids will have to go to School on Monday the 17th of June. That is just way too deep into summer. They should have been done on June, 12, but we now have 3 full days to make up. I'm thinking a lot of parents will have vacations planned and won't be there anyways. I told my kids they don't have to go on that Monday, but they think the last day of school is the best day of school all year...and their probably right.

Seems silly to plan vacations that close to the end of school if you live in an area where issues may push the end like that.mjmjr25 wrote:I'm thinking a lot of parents will have vacations planned and won't be there anyways.

In areas that routinely get snow it takes A LOT of snow to close school. That much snow is very uncommon, even in the frozen tundra of the northern United States.Hobie-wan wrote:Seems silly to plan vacations that close to the end of school if you live in an area where issues may push the end like that.mjmjr25 wrote:I'm thinking a lot of parents will have vacations planned and won't be there anyways.

No, not really. The planning is very well thought out actually. We are scheduled to allow for (3) cancellations. Beginning on a 4th cancellation, we have to start making up days.Hobie-wan wrote:Seems silly to plan vacations that close to the end of school if you live in an area where issues may push the end like that.mjmjr25 wrote:I'm thinking a lot of parents will have vacations planned and won't be there anyways.
That does occasionally happen, so for most grades school ends on a Wednesday, thus, if we have to make up a day (rare), or even 2 days (very rare), we still end school in the same week. Today was our (6th) weather day, so now we have to make up (3) days and extend further than has happened in the 35 years i've lived in this area. We typically take a vacation that week, but just didn't this year. With summer camps, scout camps, sport camps, holiday weekends, etc - it is one of the more common and responsible weeks to plan a vacation for.
EDIT: Got my drive plowed after work. The motivation to shovel wide walking paths disappeared a few weeks ago, so from the drive to the house is just a one-shovel cut.

Someone on the Nintendo Wii U Miiverse (that seems really weird to say) had posted on the ZombiU message boards asking if it would be cool if the main character could have a scythe in ZombiU2. All I can think of is Bono and the gang as zombies.

The snow days have really effed me up this year. I don't even know when the last day of school is. Still snow on our yard here.
Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
I think I only had a total of 2 or 3 snow days from kindergarten to high school. I guess that's mostly due to living in a fairly major city that has the infrastructure to deal with the snow. outside of the cities though they pretty much call school closures after around 5 or 6 inches here I think.MrPopo wrote:In areas that routinely get snow it takes A LOT of snow to close school.
