Honestly, I'm disappointed at this reversal. While I do think it was kind of annoying, I think the benefits there were intriguing. It just needed some tweaking I think.
I think that the $100 price difference hurts them more than the DRM stuff.
In my highly scientific study of "talk to my sister who isn't much of a gamer" I mentioned to her the DRM and prices of the systems. The thing she cared about was "$100 more? Why would I get that one?" She actually liked the idea of not needing the disc (her kids ruin them) and being able to digitally borrow games from me.

Re: XBOX One DRM Reversed
I'm shocked that they did this. I may actually buy this console now. Ya know, in 2017 or whatever.
Re: XBOX One DRM Reversed
Well, how about that?
Now that I know the system won't be useless one day, I can buy it in confidence.
Thank you Microsoft. You just made a sale.

I like the idea of not needing discs too. That's why I've been switching to digital when possible.

Yeah well that's the thing, consoles are starting to revert to being a niche market again as other people spend their leisure time with other gadgets like smartphones and tablets. I think the gamer demographic is going to be pretty important for the next consoles.
I really don't think Microsoft's heart was in the wrong place, they just fumbled the ball in the way they tried to handle the transition to digital.

Good for them for actually listening to the fans - if they hadn't made these changes, Sony would have enjoyed a complete rout for this generation.

Re: Xbox One
Even though they reversed some things, I'm still going with the ps4, I bought a ps3 before I bought anything else this generation, I bought more ps3 games and wii games over 360. I'm sure I'll pick one up after some kind of price drop but mainly because of exclusives.
but I feel the ps4 will have most exclusives that I will like vs xbox one

Doesn't matter nearly as much since you never need to go online in the first place.

There were the possible murmurs of not requiring military people to check in, so if true there was already code somewhere that didn't include that check in bit or didn't call a timer and connection subroutine.
