I don't think the PS2 looks any better for games made within a few years of the DC's availability. We could have seen better looking DC games if it had lasted. But we do not have much later DC to go on besides shmups.
This, I don't think DC ever got a chance to reach the point where developers were really pushing the hardware.
So true of most Sega hardware. Thanks to Sega...

What the 32x should have been:

Honestly, other than Sonic Racing and Skylanders Giants (both of which could have been on the Wii), my wife and I have not been playing the Wiiu much. I use it for Netflix when working at home, but we have mostly been playing the X-wing Miniatures game. But the Monster Hunter 3 demo was quite awesome and will most likely be a must buy early.

So I turned on my WiiU for the first time in about a month and a half over the weekend. The e-shop is desolate; I did grab the $0.30 F-Zero they have out there as a monthly promotion. Trine 2 DC looks ok, but it is 50% less on XBLA (although not the DC) thanks to a sale. The game is $14.99 on WiiU.

I guess I didn't realize how slow the Virtual Console move has been.

It will go the way of still being on store shelves and still having a trickle of games releasing on it?

I too recently turned on the Wii U after an extended period of having it collect dust, and I havfe to admit, I forgot how much I liked the gamepad, I immediatly wanted to play something on it, and once again wondered when the hell Wonderful 101 will come out! I will be picking up Lego City next month for sure, at least its something to look forward to.

I do not remember the ps2 having a slow start, even if it did, it was not because people were unsure of its capabilities. I did some reading on the era and it seems that many people held off buying a Dreamcast just to get a ps2 . In addition, I remember well that the PS2 release was well known to be the sign of death for the Dreamcast . Isn't that game Segega was meant to be a joke on how Sony was killing Sega?

Slow start of the PS2 was due to shortage of hardware as far as I know, and even if people were holding back for a short period because they were waiting for the games or getting their DVD player. They were waiting for the FF and GTs and Metal Gears. PS2 was the sign of next gen graphics and hardware capability.

In comparison , the Wii U is just as good as LAST generation graphics. Second I doubt it is as capable as the ps4 or 720 processor, online capabilities, or storage wise. I think we can see that Kill Zone's demo blew anything Wii U can offer (if wrong correct me) . I think Nintendo's online store and community is way behind Microsoft and Sony's . A friend of mine got a Wii U, some games looks just as good as 360 and sometimes it looks like Wii as in the case of Mario chase game or the ghost game.

I agree with ZeroAX , Nintendo better show whats coming for Wii u that is better (or different than) what competitors are offering. I do not know of any games that are scheduled to be released that fit that criteria . I even remember there was a huge buzz on the Wii for games like Zelda with motion controls and the next Super Smash . What is Nintendo going to offer this time around? Zelda without motion controls?

Only time will tell , what games are going to come and if the Wii U will be a success or not. Hopefully it will not turn into another Sega.

Going from the N64 to the DC was a big jump in terms of a graphics capabilities. Going from the DC to the PS2, not much to write home about.
Who said other wise?
The PS2 only had "good looking" games later in it's lifespan.
This isn't true in the slightest. Gran Turismo and Final Fantasy 10 looked as good as any game in the market at that time. If anything it was later when PS2 games started to not look good when GC and Xbox specs were really starting to come out in their games.

@kingmohd

While the WiiU certainly isn't as powerful as the PlayStation 4 or the Nextbox it is at least more powerful than the 360 and PS3. While not being able to handle high resolutions, it at least appears capable to handle much better textures and shading while being able to maintain a full 720p versus the slightly lower resolutions that the others use. (Tekken Tag 2 for instance never drops from that resolution while the PS3 and 360 have adaptive horizontal resolution that lowers whenever the engine is taxed).

For Need For Speed, they were able to use the PC textures and lighting engine.
Idries Hamadi chimes in with his final thoughts.

"The Wii U has had a bit of a bad rap - people have said it's not as powerful as 360, this, that and the other. That, by and large, has been based on apples to oranges comparisons that don't really hold water. Hopefully we'll go some way to proving that wrong," he says.

So while you wont see PS4 resolutions and framerates, it appears that it can at least handle a decent graphical upgrade. It's not nearly on the level of the original Wii when it comes to being outdated.

But what matters in the end is games. Luckily the next round of retail games comes around March 18th with Lego City, Most Wanted, and Monster Hunter. Hopefully the big N will have some more stuff ready to announce by then. The Wonderful 101 and Pikmin 3 were supposed to be released by the end of Q2 so they shouldn't be too far off. I remember on the 360 where after the launch lineup pretty much the only games to look forward to were Oblivion and GRAW. By this time next year it will be safe to judge the WiiU's sales performance but I feel now it's still to early to be condemning the system.

I have TTT2 for both PS3 and Wii U and graphically the Wii U version is superior and possibly runs smoother... However there are modes of the game that are absent from the other versions, like online lobbies and world arenas.. So while the Wii U is certainly capable of having great 3rd parties that are even better than last gen's counterparts, there seems to be inferior versions of the game being ported atm..
