Re: PC build thread
I don't see how, 46a on the 12v rail, decent power supply for the price. Unless something has changed, corsair also use Japanese capacitors which are good quality.
Nvidia recommend a PSU that is 500watts with 30a on the 12V rail for the GTX970, so you will be fine with it. PC people become elitists really quickly and tend to like to stick to one brand / build. (I myself tend to buy Thermaltake Truepower, purely because I have never had issues with them).
EDIT: Unless you are doing crazy overclocking / plan to expand in the future, you will be fine. Buy for the future with more overhead if you want to feel safe / more future proof.

I've made a wish list at Newegg under the title "marurun" and made it public. I'm curious to get the opinions of other enthusiasts here as to how to optimize this build. Once I'm satisfied, I'll pull the trigger on it.
And while I did make it public, it seems to be taking a while for it to go live...

Apparently, Corsair started using CWT as their OEM in the last few years and they don't use Japanese capacitors any more. I don't know - this is quickly getting beyond me... I checked and I have a CWT model...emwearz wrote:I don't see how, 46a on the 12v rail, decent power supply for the price. I have pushed my 660 pretty hard for a year and a half with no problems and now people tell me I have a time bomb on my hands.

Re: PC build thread
Noise, I committed to the GTX 960, despite the R9 380 coming out ahead in almost every head-to-head I've seen, but only because I found a 4 GB version that was clocked up and cheaper than my clocked up 4 GB R9 380 selection. I guess I should give you the free code that comes with it, since you kept pushing for Nvidia.

Turns out that "free gift" actually cost me $.99. You buy that card, you have to pay the extra 99 cents...

Re: PC build thread
Update: I've gotten some PSU advice on jonnyGURU forums and I should be fine. I do need to get a better PSU at some point, but I won't end up on the local news from some bizarre explosion.
This crap is complicated!!!
