Because I think I am looking at one right now.
I nearly made a comment along those lines twice... Now I can stop hemming and hawing on the wording.

I mean she is mostly right, but yeah...
That's Japanese gaming though... good luck to any gaijin who want to force them to change.

Japan is a very sexist society. Good luck forcing that to change. They even had a kerfluffle just last year with a male MP saying something horribly rude and sexist to a female MP. Like, our congress can be sexist, but this made our legislators seem pretty tame.

Looks like a very early RPG Maker type game, or some other sort of DIY game engine. Almost definitely made by one guy in his flat.

I.E. I don't understand why you guys are taking this shit so seriously. This isn't indicative of the mainstream Japanese gaming industry anymore than Ethnic Cleansing is indicative of the mainstream American gaming industry.

Historically they are immune to cultural change, unless the change originates in China or is backed with military force.

Remember, this is the nation that still practices whaling and barely admits to doing anything wrong in WWII.

From what I gather, it's actually one of the most well-known eroge games and has very high production values.

But yeah, I don't think Sengoku Rance (the game) or its protagonist are representative of anything. I would be more worried about romantic comedies and the creepy antics of their well-intended protagonists than about a porn game in which the protagonist has been intentionally designed to be as much of a douchebag as possible.
