So instead of militarism the Japanese promote cock fighting. Yeah, that's MUCH better.BoneSnapDeez wrote:For the sake of comparison, the best-selling games in Japan last year were Pokemon Black/White, Mario Wii, and Final Fantasy XIII.
Rapelay. Next point. So no, it's not people "enjoying the game" that's the problem, it's the fact that we live in a culture where people thought it would be a good idea to make such a game in the first place.
You don't understand what escapism is, do you? We had this discussion in the thread about realistic graphics, but in short, escapism is taking oneself out of their day-to-day life. Whether this is through pretend soldiering (MW3) or an acid trip (Rez) through a computer network doesn't change that both are escapism. In addition, I believe this game is a pretty poor example of "escapism" as it features extremely realistic graphics and is reflective of current events. Contrast that to another military-esque game like, say, Contra, which is Japanese, kitschy, and an obvious take on cheesy commando and alien flicks.

They get locked because ignorant people are incapable of properly arguing against the truth, which in turns makes them get frustrated and they have to resort to things like personal attacks.Hobie-wan wrote:FTFYBoringSupreez wrote:Not really. It's funny, this is the exact argument I see from people convincing me that their religion is correct.Inazuma wrote:They get locked because ignorant people are incapable of properly arguing against the truth, which in turns makes them get frustrated and they have to resort to things like personal attacks.

When I say the "truth", I am talking about just that. The actual real truth, not what one believes is true.MrPopo wrote:It's funny, this is the exact argument I see from people convincing me that their religion is correct.Inazuma wrote:They get locked because ignorant people are incapable of properly arguing against the truth, which in turns makes them get frustrated and they have to resort to things like personal attacks.

so you just mean your beliefs then? Those seem to be what you call 'the truth' regardless of silly things like facts.Inazuma wrote: When I say the "truth", I am talking about just that. The actual real truth, not what one believes is true.

But no one knows the real truth (at least in regards to religion) so why bother arguing about it.Inazuma wrote:When I say the "truth", I am talking about just that. I find it ironic and amusing that you use one of history's most militaristic and imperialistic cultures as an example... Japan just hasnt had a modern military since their defeat in WWII.
So instead, we get a bunch super violent Samurai, Ninja, and mecha games and anime. Ninja Gaiden, Dynasty Warriors, and blood spraying anime to name just a very few.
Some people enjoy that in their media and games and it isn't necessarily a reflection of their culture or behavior. Some people are just a bit more adept at keeping fantasy and real life separate, even with the infusion of more realistic graphics...

I am not even a religious person, but the amount of arrogance and spite you put forth onto these boards is very off-putting.Inazuma wrote: When I say the "truth", I am talking about just that. The actual real truth, not what one believes is true.
