There needs to be an independent film production group that just buys up the rights to old, forgotten movies and makes completely absurd sequels to them.

It's just too bad that the only good things in Lockout were Guy Pearce and his amusingly smarmy one liners. The trailer was awesome and I really wanted to like it but it just didn't work for me.

Unfortunately I saw it at the theater with friends so it cost more than $1 for me. They weren't real happy with me after as I'd chosen it. Then they made the terrible choice of Chernobyl Diaries the next time. It was not a good movie month.

GENTLEMEN BRONCOS

I don't care what the haters say, I think Jared Hess is a great film maker. I loved Napoleon Dynamite 'before it was cool', when it was only showing in the little 'indie' theater here in Austin, and I loved loved loved Nacho Libre. GENTLEMEN BRONCOS does not disappoint if you're a fan of Hess' work. It's the perfect blend of absurdity, discomfort, and quirky humor with an awesome finale that has the little guy coming out on top. It's a hilariously fun movie, and probably one of Jemaine Clement's best roles. I don't know if I like him more in BRONCOS or EAGLE Vs SHARK. And don't even get me started on the brilliant Sam Rockwell in his dual/singular role of Bronco and Brutus. I love this movie.

One thing my bro-in-law said that stuck with me upon tonite's viewing though... I hope I never get asked to be in a Jared Hess film as a backgrounder, or an extra. He always chooses the ugliest most weird looking people for his extras and while I'd be jazzed about being in a film, I'd also be a little insulted if he thought I was ugly enough to be in his movie.

It is my least favorite of his films. I did not like Napolean the first time I saw it, liked it even less after it got big. But then I saw the Sundance film, and rewatched the movie and liked it. Nacho Libre is just so bizarre it was excellent - kinda like Casa de Padre. Gentlemen Broncos was just slow and bizarre for bizarres sake. And while I love Sam Rockwell, I also thought it was not his A game. It had a neat concept, but just dragged on way to long.

We watched Princess Bride last night. It still a nigh perfect movie.

I guess I can agree that it's my least favorite of the three films, but I really do love it. I have it on Bluray, and I even have a print that a comic artist named Vernon Smith did of Ronald Chevalier, doing his 'greeting' sign. It's signed, framed and hanging in my living room, lol.

Galaxy Quest

That is one of my favorite "lazy day" movies of all time. It's by no means great, but it's a ton of fun and Weaver looks smoking hot with blond hair and a torn shirt. Meow.
