Yes, and no.

Unfortunately the idiom "Treat her like dirt, and she'll stick to you like mud" is very true about a lot of women. Those are women I have never had an interest for as I have no respect for a weak woman, or man for that fact.

Ebert said it a bit more eloquently:

It is an interesting law of romance that a truly strong woman will chose a strong man who disagrees with her over a weak one who goes along. Strength demands intelligence, intelligence demands stimulation, and weakness is boring. It is better to find a partner you can contend with for a lifetime than one who accommodates you because he doesn't really care. ... Sixty seconds of wondering if someone is about to kiss you is more entertaining than 60 minutes of kissing.

In general I disagree, but then again I'd feel the same way about any kissing that involved Ebert as well.

Can't argue with that.

But as for the "waiting for the kiss" vs. "the kiss itself", I totally get it. Not the moment when your lips touch for the first time, but after the initial kiss, there you have it.

Whether you've kissed a hundred people, that first kiss with someone is something special, as it only happens once. The anticipation, the near anxiousness, the relief she wants to kiss back...and of course the feeling of it. It happens only once, and it is pretty magical.

Sorry. Maybe I should check my T levels.

*edit* Wouldn't want to double post.

Might be a sensitive subject, so let's keep this civil.

With NBA player Jason Collins making an announcement that he's gay, my business brain wheels went turning. What if I was the guy's manager?

Even more so, I wondered how I would personally handle having one of my childhood sports heroes (Ray Bourque) "come out" and wearing his sweater to every game.

Found out I'm a bit confused how I would handle it.

I'm pro-gay rights, pro-gay marriage, but really don't give two wipes about sexual preference. At the same time, I don't think our President should spend his time calling an overpaid athlete to say "Way to say you are gay! You are an inspiration!". I also don't think Collins should make the cover of SI because he said "I'm gay". But apparently that sells.

Back to the business side of this...I doubt Collins sold many jerseys a year. As someone who focuses on the bottom line, I can see his jersey sales going up. As your average Joe, I could see previous owners of a Collins jersey not wearing it in public.

Like it or not, people who wear Collins jersey (all five of them) will be portrayed as gay rights activists. I'll use Jeremy Roenick (heterosexual NHL player/asshole/legend) as an example since I own one of his sweaters, and own other 'Hawks sweaters.

If Roenick made an announcement that he was gay, I would call his wife.

Kidding. I almost feel that wearing Roenick's sweater no longer supported him as a player, but his sexual orientation. Not that the guy would be a martyr, but people would associate "I'm super Pro Gay Rights!" with the name. And the guys and gals here who "know" me know I don't back down from face to face confrontations, but it's sad but true that if you go into an arena of 70K wearing an openly gay players jersey, it's going to be ten times worse than wearing a Steelers jersey to an Eagles game.

Holy shit! I kid you not, a band of old guys just went by on a flat-bed being pulled by truck playing "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" live going down the road in front of my apartment complex.

In an effort to sell Superman tickets, my friends at the electronics department at Walmart were given Superman t-shirts and capes and asked to wear them while working.

It wasn't required for them to say to every customer "Have a Super Day!" before leaving, but they did it anyway. I was beyond amused.

Being physically feels awesome and that can be its own reward. I'm a small guy, too. By the way, I doubt those big guys are steroid users. They're probably on sports teams, and if that's the case, they go through testing. Even if you can never match their frame, you could possibly match their muscle definition (or important things, like endurance, cardio, coordination...)

That aside. Generally girls are attracted to good looks, but they're much more attracted to confidence. If you do meet a girl you think is worth it, make your intentions clear when you befriend her. That will make things easier for everyone, regardless of the outcome.
I have a bigger frame than most of these guys, and I've seen them take steroids. As much as they get tested, they are only off of 'roids during football season. The rest of the year they shoot up and all that.

You might be right on the girl thing. But how do you make your intentions clear without coming off too forward? I'm scared to run them off. In the social hierarchy, I'm about a coal miner, and these girls are sitting in the castle.

In cases, yes, they are taken. One of them is currently dating a guy that's really cool, so I can't really say anything bad about him. I just don't know how to go about talking to some of these girls, whom I have little to nothing to talk about with, without it seeming like I'm trying to come onto them or something. I'm just not feeling like I can just waltz up and start chatting about the weather like we're old friends.

Too bad about the football players. Their punishment will come when they start growing boobs.

As for the girls...social hierarchy is worth squat. Ask to meet her dad and then impress the pants off him. Dads are way higher on the ladder than football players.

Anybody here on Racketboy have experience working at Hastings? I need a job, and it seems like a decent place, but I don't really know too well. My main problem is that, due to FFA, I'd have to have a flexible schedule where I could make up hours as needed. There would be a decent amount of time where I would be missing weekends and occasional nights for work.

I'm just not sure what I'd do there. I'd prefer something "in the back", or where there's maybe a little less face-to-face work. I'm running out of ideas for places to work.

I had a friend that worked there for a while. I don't remember him complaining any more than anyone does about other retail jobs.
