Hello, everyone! I've visited Racketboy a few times in the past, but only recently did I start reading more articles here and join the forums. Only a week ago, I started working at a local video game store that deals with a lot of older games, which has gotten me in a really retro mood. It's also finally given me an excuse to restart my video game collection, which has been lacking in recent years.

I own a number of systems, from the old ones (Atari 2600, Intellivision), to the new ones (Xbox 360, Nintendo DS), to the odd ones (3DO, Sega CD), but unfortunately, I don't have very many games at all anymore. I'm still kicking myself for all the cool and rare stuff I used to own, but sold off for more games. Now, however, I'm surrounded by awesome retro games every day at work and I have a paycheck and discount to buy them with, so there's no reason for me to have such a lame collection anymore.

I've been spending most of my time at work sorting through the older game cases, which were pretty unorganized when I got to them, into something a bit more presentable and easy to sift through. I tore through the NES, SNES, N64, Atari, and Intellivision games and now they're all nice and neat in their glass cases with all the best titles on display. Hopefully I can tear through the Genesis case tomorrow.

All this organizing has gotten me well acquainted with our stock, so I have some idea of what I'm looking for when my first paycheck comes. Today I grabbed Starfox (SNES), Stunt Race FX (SNES), Outlaw (Atari 2600), Donkey Kong (Intellivision), and Astrosmash (Intellivision). Stunt Race FX wasn't as cool as I was hoping it would be, but I think it has started a tradition of my buying cheap unknown titles each week just for kicks (my friends had a good laugh at the dizzying Super FX). Starfox, on the other hand, kept me busy for a good hour or so, even though I couldn't quite take down Andross. Maybe some other day....

Anyway, I'm excited about adding more games to my collection. Any suggestions would be appreciated and likely added to my already long list of games I need to pick up.

BTW, I've always been a big fan of Sega, but from an objective standpoint, which system should I buy for when it comes to multi-console titles?

My suggestion if you are a fan of Sega is the Saturn, she has the most 'Sega' feel out of all the sega consoles, if you dont own one, get one, if you do, get more for it.

I used to own a Sega Saturn, so it's certainly on the top of my list of things to buy. I think I worded my question kind of weird, but I was asking about games on the Genesis and SNES specifically. I own both of those systems, and obviously I buy Mario titles for the SNES and Sonic titles for the Genesis, but what about third-party titles for both systems? I know some are better on one than the other (like Mortal Kombat on the Genesis with its uncut gore), but does one system have generally better versions of most multi-console games?

'Sup, I'm Ripley. A friend of mine recommended me here, and it seems like a pretty cool, tight knit community! :3

I'm a major dork with perma-nostalgia goggles... my consoles are the NES, SNES, N64 and DS. (I never count my PS2, it's just so out of place).

I just got the NES three days ago, so I'm still working with it's little quirks and amassing games for it. It's definitely my new baby though, I just need to replace the connector so it works without wiggling the cartridges for what seems like ever.

So... hi. :'D

Welcome.

The NES 72 pin connector is easy to replace. I got my last one for $6 shipped on eBay so they are cheap too.

Yeah I was pricing them, found one for about 8$ but if you found one for 6, that's even better! :D

Welcome to the board.

Just remember to clean all your games before you put them in the system after the swap. :)
