I would say yes. Seeing that if any cop acted like Bruce Willis from the Die Hard series I am pretty sure they would have been fired by now, probably even in Jail. Plus if you want to look at it that way I guess in the 90's everyone had a fedish for human like animals(Star Fox, Donkey Kong, Sonic, Yushi, Kurby) and eating magic mushrooms that gave you powers(or drugs in other words)

Obviously people who enjoy these games completely endorse what happens in them.
Just like how people who enjoy slasher films completely endorse violent murder.

I'm not entirely sure what you're saying here. I never said Call of Duty turns people into murderers. I said that games that endorse violence and militarism can exist only within a culture where such behavior is legitimized and acceptable.
Re: Is Gamestop Evil? The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
You pretty much come across as saying "people who enjoy this are what's wrong with society." It kinda seems like a personal attack against the people who like these games.
I understand the idea that media is often a reflection of the society that produces it.
What I'm simply saying that while it may be a reflection of that society, it's not in any way a reflection of the individual who chooses to enjoy it.
(Besides, I like to keep my politics and my escapist entertainment as separate as possible. I'm sure I'm not alone here.)

He is saying that just like how people who enjoy slasher films must endorse those types of actions by your logic, as you said that people how play violent military shooters must also endorse those types of actions too.

Call of Duty players have no time to be concerned for the "industry". They are too busy having fun.
Selling half my NES/SNES/PS1 collection (ending Dec 1):

Or thinking of a clever racial slur.

War, imperialism, and mass-murder are what's wrong with American society. These games exist because such violence is legitimized. No political neutrality here. It's no coincidence that the best-selling game in the country with the world's largest military is a game about said military! For the sake of comparison, the best-selling games in Japan last year were Pokemon Black/White, Mario Wii, and Final Fantasy XIII.
So no, it's not people "enjoying the game" that's the problem, it's the fact that we live in a culture where people thought it would be a good idea to make such a game in the first place.
In addition, I believe this game is a pretty poor example of "escapism" as it features extremely realistic graphics and is reflective of current events. Contrast that to another military-esque game like, say, Contra, which is Japanese, kitschy, and an obvious take on cheesy commando and alien flicks.
In summation, my objects to MW3 are almost purely political and have little to do with actual gameplay (which is, admittedly, quite poor).
I admit I feel like I've highjacked this thread a bit, but I've said my piece and I'll leave it at that so we can get back to talking about how shitty Gamestop is. We need a politics thread in the off-topic folder or something.

Great post. I completely agree with you.
