Yeah. It makes me a little sad that it was only intended as a tech demo, and not some crazy idea of "this is the future of interfaces".

Mike Bollard (injured Center of the Blackhawks) was recently asked "How are you recovering from your back injury?".

Bollard responded "I can't give you a percentage, but I'm half way there". I now feel the need to purchase a 'Hawks Bollard sweater.

His response was a bit Groucho with a sprinkle of Yogi, and I think it is brilliant.

Have you actually run it before though? It's totally useless. I really was just a "See what your expensive new SGI machine is capable of even before you buy more super expensive 3D rendering software". A quick few minutes of 'ooh' back in the day and you were done.

I agree it's totally useless. It just would be hilarious if a company made a big bet on that being "the future".

Too bad your Kindergartners are too young to know, "He's not a man, he's a Chicken Boo" for rhyming with "chicken who?"

Well just in movies. Jurassic Park of course, Hackers, and Swordfish immediately coming to mind. I wonder if we have Disney to blame for this because of the original Tron. That's the earliest 'data as 3D things' in movies and TV I can think of at the moment.

I'm right at/near the intellectual level of your students, so make sure you deliver the punchline with an Adam Sandler-esque "Who wouldn't eat a chicken cow? I know I would! HAHAHAHAHA! Now let's eat some Bologna sandwiches!".
