Random Gaming Thoughts

Says Piko Interactive. Not sure they have any other titles on Steam. Developer is still listed as Wisdom Tree, though, so that's nice.

That is strange. Piko Interactive appears to be a company that sells repro SNES carts...
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Yup, they do appear to be that. They also do some homebrew stuff and sell empty cart shells. Maybe they've branched out into picking up small titles that are now in the wind. Or maybe they're merely acting as a publisher for a 3rd party who didn't develop the game but now owns it.

After seeing Jurassic World, I felt compelled to try to beat Jurassic Park for Genesis. When I was a kid, I managed to get to the final boss but couldn't figure it out (I know, you hit one of the skeletons in a certain way and it collapses... I was a kid!).
Oh man, this game is kind of terrible. The design for the third stage is based PURELY ON MEMORIZATION and has so many DUMB DEATHS. Some waterfalls you need to go fast down, some you need to go slow, one you need to go BACKWARDS, you *can* lose access to the boat but then you're stuck until you die, and at the VERY END OF THE LEVEL, WHEN EVERYTHING SEEMS PEACEFUL a triceratops shows up out of nowhere and kills you UNLESS you knew it was there and threw a gas bomb before it's visible on the screen.
I managed to get into that kusoge ZONE where you ride the edge between ultimate frustration and ultimate determination. But I realized along the way how ugly the background graphics really are and how lame the music is. I'm pretty sure it's a step down from the Game Gear/SMS version!
Somehow I beat that level... I'm seriously hoping that was the hardest level in the game but I guess I'll find out.

I have a soft spot for this game and I love it, but I'm aware of its problems.
Once you're done with this though, check out Jurassic Park Rampage Edition, also on Genesis. Its simply awesome, and the gap between the two games is kind of astounding.

Rampage Edition was definitely awesome! I actually beat that one when I was a kid. Probably because it's such a better game.
I also kind of want to track down a copy of The Lost World for Genesis. I thought the game looked like cool top-down shooter but never seriously played it and never hear people talk about it...

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
That Jurassic Park game is such an odd special case. It seems like everyone liked it when it was new. I'm not exception. It had to have been Jurassic Park fever back in the day. I remember thinking controlling the raptor was disappointing but other than that I liked it quite a bit. Only when you go back to it years later when the movie magic has long since worn off do you realize it's kind of a pile. Still kinda wanna play it right now just talking about it though lol.
I will have to grab Rampage Edition. Never played it.
