I stil believe this will be like a trojan horse, people will put their guards down and in 1 or 2 years BAM! new update of the system! DRM for every body!

There's pretty much no way they can just trojan horse DRM into a system after its already been out a while.

Could you imagine what sort of disaster that'd be to try and implement mid-cycle? Trying to block used games while used games are already sitting on the shelves of most retailers?

That's simply not gonna happen. Next gen rolls around however, I expect "always online" to be back on the table. (I expect it to be digital only as well)

After this i know MS has no limits, and yes it would be really stupid to do that.

I say they gonna put the allways online at least with digital games as well, but after this i loose respect for any microsft product.

So mandatory cloud gaming and streaming was a complete lie?

Even if I hated all their plans, to go back on their word is a total sign of weakness. Terrible, lol. I think this makes them look even worse than before. Either do or die.

I don't think the damage has been done if the console hasn't even been released yet. Good on them for responding to the criticism and good for gamers.

It would have been pure stubbornness to stay with what everyone pretty much universally hated, just to look "strong" At least this shows that they are willing to listen to what people want.

Also liking the lack of region locking. Not sure if this was already known, but its a step in the right direction for them. Too bad Cave probably won't be able to take advantage of this.

They knew they were toasted. They had to listen or face imminent failure.

Notice how there's no word on the invasive camera yet either.

I think it's a lot more that they realized their marketing tactics weren't working.

Sony's approach has been much smarter. What they want, and undoubtedly, on some level Nintendo wants too, is for gamers to be buying things digitally. Only, the way they're doing it is by attempting to make things appealing, and still leaving it as a choice.

Games not needing to connect to all that doesn't mean it won't be highly preferable for them to be. Just means it's optional.
