i've always viewed this thread as "here's what i found today." it's always seemed to work out really well. i really don't like the three threads idea, mainly because i don't see how this thread is ineffective to that end. just like searching for finds in the wild, there is some fluff to wade through to get to the good stuff.

Concurred. Having to figure out where in the 3 proposed threads your "find" falls in is pedantic and overcomplicates the whole thing. Especially for more casual posters.

there's clearly two distinct lines of thought on what this thread is/has been/should be. That's why I like Ziggy's idea about closing and creating distinct threads. Are you both opposed to a poll to decide if we want to keep this "as is" or close it in favor of the split threads for a "things I picked up that I want to share about" and a "OMG WTF I FOUND TEH AWESOME!!" thread?

i do think 3 separate threads is WAY WAY too much and overly excessive. i just say keep it the way it is and just let people continue to treat this as a "what i bought today" thread. as aaron said, just ignore all the filler posts or just stop reading the thread period, as i pretty much have done.
if you took a shit, please put it back

We try to avoid that.

Right. That's what this thread is for.

What I think he is getting at is if we split the threads, then it'd be easier to make a new thread than trying to delegate what freakin finds thread it goes in without breaking the rules.

I agree with aaron and others, keep the thread the way it is.

I can see where you're coming from dsheinem, but keep in mind that every person has a different definition of what a "find of the day" entails. Not all of us live in big cities with pawn shops and game stores on every corner. I live in rural Maine, finding a game that's $10 off at GameStop or Target is a big deal for me.

Of course not. A poll is the most democratic way to decide what to do with this thread.

So I say go ahead and create that poll...

I came up with the idea, so obviously that's what I think is the good choice. But I really can't see how having 3 separate threads is confusing. If you wanted to post a thread about Super Mario World, would you post in the Sega forum, the Nintendo forum, or the Sony and Microsoft forum?

If you like to read about or found a sick deal or incredibly rare item, thread 1 is for you. For those that wanna ramble about what happen during their purchase, discuss something obscure or whatnot, or read about that sort of thing, then thread 2 is for you. If you wanna just brag about your typical purchase, then thread 3 if for you.

The three threads idea is a way to keep every one happy, kinda meeting in the middle. Like I said in my last post, we could all go on for days or weeks arguing about what this thread is for and what to do now. I can understand that some people have different views then me, and I am willing to make the change. So understand, if you disagree with some one, that means some one disagrees with you.

Yes, this was an epic thread. It'll be said to see it go. I love this thread, too. But honestly, is it THAT big of a deal? We are all still gonna get to read and talk about what we want to. We'll just be able to do it easier. And with out arguing.

And for the record, I really didn't see a problem with this thread. I liked it fine the way it was. But some don't agree. So what makes me right, and them wrong? I can live with the three separate threads. It's really not gonna keep me up at night. And the idea is actually growing on me, I like it.

A poll is a fine idea. I'll be happy no matter what happens.

It's not confusing for you mods or people with 1000+ post counts that are on the forums all the time.

The problem is that it can get confusing for everyone else that comes here and posts casually, lurks, or (especially) newbies. While it might "de-clutter" things for the people that check the threads multiple times a day, it might put off new members and even casual posters from interacting with the forum because they just can't hop in and post their finds like they do now. And it's not as easy as posting Sega things in the Sega forum or Sony related posts in the Sony and Microsoft forum if you're not aware there are 3 separate find threads each with their own criteria.

I just think splitting things up will only serve veteran members and only make it more complicated to post for everyone else.
