Except then, when your console died you still had your save game. :)
I'm totally okay with that being the trade-off. :)

SNES batteries are easy to replace, and I'm not as concerned about holding onto old saves as I might've been as a kid. I just want the game to hold my progress until I'm done with it.

I think I may be on the verge of another Gamecube kick. Lately it's the only console I've been giving much thought.

I haven't bought any new Gamecube games in years, and I really should. There's only a fairly small selection of 'must have' games on my list and they'd be nice to get. Luckily I have a lot of the first party stuff released in the UK, the ones I want and need are:

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat
Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour
Mario Power Tennis
Mario Party 6 & 7
Doshin the Giant
1080 Avalanche
Kirby Air Ride
Starfox Assault
WarioWare
Wario World

There are several other pricy games I want too though, like Ikaruga and Baten Kaitos.

Finally a sequel (or spiritual successor) to Shaq Fu....

Image

"When we were working on the game, we codenamed it Shaq Fu 2," Long Vo, cofounder and creative director of developer Hiptic, tells VentureBeat. "This game is set in a postapocalyptic world where Shaq has become a legend, and it’s up to him to save humanity from mutant zombies."

That’s right. The Big Survivor.

As you might have guessed, O'Neal has a sense of humor about his gaming legacy, having told the developers to "have fun with it." And it looks like they did. In addition to bringing the pain to legions of undead jerks, Shaq will team up with a variety of allies, including three-time world wrestling champ Lee Kemp.

Sounds more like a spiritual successor to Chaos in the Windy City to me!

Always solder (or add a proper battery holder). A janky piece of tape or whatever could have its glue fail or you could drop the cart and have the battery shift. At best it could lose connection. At worst it could cause a short while rattling around in the cart and damage something.

The DS's remaining lineup, worldwide:
North America
03/19 - The Croods: Prehistoric Party!

Japan
01/09 - Bunbun Squares

Europe
01/25 - Everything's Rosie
03/29 - Farmscapes
03/29 - Puzzler Brain Games

Australia
01/10 - Learn with Pokemon: Typing Adventure

Ironically, despite selling less than half of what the DS did, the PSP has far more life left - at least in Japan.

Only needed to do it once so far, definitely soldered.
