Picked up Viking for XBox 360. It's not a masterpiece or anything innovative, but it was WELL worth $6.99 gameplay wise.

Unfortunately, I got the promotional box with it. The one that has the "Display Box Only, Bring to Front Counter" and the price stamped onto the artwork. No manual. And the box is broken along the spine. Talk about having pride in your product. Oh well, it was only $6.99 and at least it didn't come in a yellow paper sleeve.

Viking is one of the worst next-gen console games I've ever played, and for that, I love it.

Heh, yeah, this gen hasn't been "next-gen" for quite some time now.

The Good

Not everything is bad at Gamestop. They are the best deal for used games and accessories locally. I just bought a Gamecube Component Cable for $4.99 at Gamestop!

Here is the SKU: 900572.

I posted the entire story back at the Video Game Finds Thread.

Bleh, to hell with your semantics! I can only hope it gets a next-gen sequel though. The greatness of Viking must live on.

The Good
I am going nuts trying to find an older Gamecube game, I already knew the closest "In Stock" store was too far, even by my OCD game collecting long drives. Here is the story which I forwarded to Gamestop Corporate:
"CRTGAMER wrote:This is a POSITIVE REVIEW!

I had a tough time trying to locate an out of print game called Cubivore for the Gamecube. The store employee asked if she could help me locate it. I mentioned there were none at other stores nearby, she said no problem we will find it. It turned out the nearest stores were in another city, too far to drive. She then offered to have the game shipped down! She tried to find a complete game with the case and manual by calling five stores, unfortunately all only had generic cases and no manual. I really wanted the game so she took my name and phone number down and asked the store over 200 miles away to ship it down. Even though the game is missing the manual, I am grateful to the employee for all her efforts. Even though no stores had the manual, I am very happy to get an out of print used game that is very hard to find.

The most impressive thing was even though this was an older game and less expensive, I am treated with the same great service as one who preorders a new game. This is the reason why I buy new games such as Battlefield 3 and Metal Gear HD, because of employees who take care of me.

Employees like Melanie definitely go the extra step, or in this case several steps! Researching and then calling all the stores to find an out of print game. PROMOTE HER IMMEDIATELY!!

Thankyou for a great shopping experience!

Yes I did buy the new PS3 games at Gamestop, the preorder deal for Battlefield 3 and Wallymart did not even carry Metal Gear HD. I think I was the only one that bought Metal Gear over all the drones who bought Call of Duty that day.

Hopefully I'll post in the Video Game Finds when the game arrives. This goes against my rules of buying a disc based game without the manual, but too good a price to pass up!

Instead of the generic Sales Receipt Survey, you can go direct to the comments site that Corporate does read. Especially when you check the box for a District Manager to contact you. Post any Good, Bad or Ugly and get results.

The Ugly
I knew this was taking place, now saw it for myself. No these are not games for sale in the store, but an entire rack display of empty boxes promoting to purchase PC download games. No disc, no case or manual, one has to log into the Gamestop site and look for SEVENTY DOLLAR games as a download purchase!

A sign of the times, Gamestop just competing with Steam and GOG. Can Gamestop download games be backed up to a CDR/DVDR without a tether to online for a future install?

@CRTGAMER,you know what they told me when I went in to pick up my MGS hd collection.....

"You come in on Call of Duty Day?"(like they've been to busy with real customers).
I didnt get my copy.....

They turned you away? I'd have taken first names and gone to the district manager. Don't let stupidity and ineptitude win.
