It's not forgotten. In fact, you can still purchase it on GOG.

I was wondering if the Dreamcast version would be worth picking up over the GOG version.

I have MDK2 for the DC after playing a demo of it. Frustrating at times but still good.
I thought the original was on DC. I guess GOG it is. I had MDK (2 I guess) for DC in the past but didn't spend much time with it, so I can't remember if it was my cup of tea.
I'm looking to beef up the DC collection virtually from scratch, this probably isn't the place to start.
So I was chilling out on the floor next to my stereo today, listening to the music of Sonic 2, and it suddenly hit me that the Arabian feel of the Oil Ocean Zone track was probably not an accident.
