So, does the memory card have a battery or not? What happens if the battery in the memory cart dies? 64 is a 20yr old system, I doubt the batteries are still ticking in the carts.MrPopo wrote:Ogre Battle 64 lets you save to either the cart or a memory card.

There are some weird looking old JRPGs out there.

The sequel's box art is almost as strange:

When you start searching cover art for those old Japanese computer systems you never know what you'll find. It's an odyssey of WTF with occasional pangs of "Damn it I wish that was released in English".

I've been diving into the depths of the internet researching many of these old RPGs. Many of the best resources out there aren't written in English, which is always "fun."

That final stretch of The Ultimate Race is so punishing. You need to be incredibly precise and falling is a good 3 seconds off the clock.

But if not, it's full of people who are experts on retro Japanese computer games. And it's in English amazingly enough.

Yeah I lurk there occasionally!
Not a participant as I don't (yet) own any hardware, unfortunately.
MSX is really the only feasible one, from what I can tell. Maybe someday...

The hell with feasible, you owe it to yourself to own a Sharp X68000 someday. That thing's got a kickin' library, including RPGs.BoneSnapDeez wrote:MSX is really the only feasible one, from what I can tell.

I know, right? I could play the original version of Lagoon!
Xak on X68000 looks amazing too.

So...I just moved. I have no room for any of my game stuff. Will it be ok in an uncontrollable temperature storage for at least 2 years? Or should I just start selling. I guarantee I will not see any of my stuff for a long time, I won't even get to play mvs cab for a long time.
