So, F-Zero is out now on the 30c/30p deal for the next 30 days. After downloading it, I have to say it looks amazing running on the gamepad screen. Plus, if you're in Europe, you'll be pleased to know that they gave us the 60hz version of the game too! No more lacking speed, distorted music and flattened graphics! It all looks really crisp and lovely.
I have to say, this being my first time playing the original SNES F-Zero, the whole series holds up way better than other comparable racing games of the time - even Mario Kart. I find Super Mario Kart to be a bit of a pain to play nowadays, but F-Zero still feels as polished and perfect to control as ever.

I agree with this!^ It has always been a smooth racer.alienjesus wrote:but F-Zero still feels as polished and perfect to control as ever.
But the rubberbanding A.I. is freakin' horrible in F-Zero. I can't play it anymore.

the PS4 presser did little to make me reconsider if I want a WiiU. So far it looks to me like a Wii but with far fewer interesting third party exclusives. What exclusive third party titles are coming?

Same. Rubberbanding AI and no multiplayer are the only downfalls of the original Fzero. Though, the series is simply elegance in motion.Opa Opa wrote:I agree with this!^ It has always been a smooth racer.alienjesus wrote:but F-Zero still feels as polished and perfect to control as ever.

I think the Wii U isn’t doing well because of the lack of games released for it. There is one game that as soon as I saw it I knew I was sold, was ZombiU. The big reviewers gave it a 6-7 I believe, which COMPLETELY inaccurate this game is so fun that it engulfs you in a post-apocalyptic London. One which survival is a challenge and even doing the simplest task require a game plan (and a plan B). Overall ZombiU is an overlooked gem on the Wii U with its terrifying ghouls, Permadeath and dark backgrounds. this game never lets you relax and enjoy the breeze because your always looking over your shoulder.
Summary: This game is like DayZ, Condemned, and Resident Evil: the Outbreak files

Arpuhguh? Fffpiss? Bah!
"Shmup" is far more elegant!

I am not going to spend $300-$400 to enjoy one third party game that lots of people like but that reviewers didn't. I don't really play enough Nintendo first party games to make it worth buying either. Thus, my question: what is a third party game coming to the WiiU (sometime this year, perhaps) that I won't be able to get elsewhere?SNKnicotine wrote:I think the Wii U isn’t doing well because of the lack of games released for it. Other than that new Bayonetta (if it stays exclusive) there isn't anything else I can think of off the top of my head.dsheinem wrote:Thus, my question: what is a third party game coming to the WiiU (sometime this year, perhaps) that I won't be able to get elsewhere?
I'm more out to get the new PS4 at this point. Final Fantasy, eventual Metal Gear games, Bungie's new game, plus all the stuff I already have from the store. PS4 is looking good so far.
edit: I'd get a Wii U if DQ X were released, though. It looks pretty fun.

I think in time, the Wii U will definitely develop a solid selection of interesting third party exclusives, just like the Wii did. Nintendo consoles since the N64 or so have all been a slow burn when it comes to the library. Eventually it gets really good, but it seems to always take a while.
