Thanks flojocabron for your fast answer. It's good to know. I'll definitely play them now.

After your comment on genesis games, I checked a few of my games and I have some like that too. I never noticed before. I don't want to derail the thread, but is there a reason for those missing pins? Was it to reduce production cost?

Thanks again

Nothing wrong with them.

Genesis games are like this too.

Go and play them to your hearts content.

oddly, nes games are missing the middle pins later and a few snes games gained outer edge pins.

I picked up a 1977 Nintendo Color TV Game 15 a couple days ago:

It is actually my second one as I got one in April as a gift. That one had a broken controller though so I picked this one up for parts, but it actually looks quite good. I`ve been able to cobble them together into one working one now.

Twas a sloooooooow day. But I found a couple things :)

Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun Soundtrack (complete as far as I know and in good shape) - $1.50
God of War Demo Disk - $0.50
Final Fantasy XII Strategy Guide, slightly beat up (damn that thing's fat) - $4.99
DiskWorld II, complete (PS) - $0.50

That's the first time I've found a gaming soundtrack in the wild. Never played the games, but I'm assuming it originally came with it. A quick search really isn't telling me anything so does anybody know? And I've never heard of DiskWorld before and I like games with that hand-drawn look. Should be interesting.

The discworld games are alright, but I think you're better off starting with the books. That's a good price for it though.

Not all games used all of the pins. For instance games that weren't RPGs and didn't save data might not need certain pins to read and write the memory chip. So later cart board batches they'd make ones that didn't have those pins at all. As you guessed, it was to save money. That .0001 cent saved on the metal and gold plating per cart doesn't seem like much, but it adds up if there are a million carts that use that particular board.

Went on a game finding adventure today with my wife and Hobie. We first spent several hours at a local flea market. I basically struck out here, while Hobie picked up several hot wheels cars and a genesis arcade stick.

I did find a snes ogre battle amazingly enough. However, they were asking 60 (written in marker on the back). I offered him 40 for it, in which he got mad and tried to tell me the game was $85 on ebay. After some haggling he went as low as 45. There were a few small nicks on the edge of the label, and I would be getting it to replace my Ogre Battle cart which has a worn edge there as well. So for 45$ it wasnt really worth it.

We also stumbled across some cib Genesis games, one being Buck Rogers, which I love. They were asking 15$ for each though, and I already have it, so I passed again.

After the flea market we grabbed some lunch and then I went to Games Plus nearby. Here, I finally found deals much better than the flea market. They happened to be having a half off Sega sale and the on going buy 4 get 1 free. I grabbed the following:

Wonder Boy cib - 4.95
Wonder Boy in Monster World cib - 7.95
Image

Jurassic Park (cardboard box) cib - 4.95
Image

Super Smash T.V. cib - 4.95
Streets of Rage 3 (box, no manual, and a bit rough) - was 7.95 (free buy 4 get 1)
Image

Thunderstrike cib (case in excellent condition) - was 3.99 but free with buy 4 get 1
The Adventures of Billy Weamish cib - 7.99
Image

Micro Machines NES cart - 14.99
Bucky Ohare cart - 13.95
Image

Micro Machines SNES cart - 13.95
Image

They also threw in a Lord of the Rings: Return of the King for free. The disc has a few scratches so they didnt want to charge me. Nice!

All in all a decent haul. Not craigslist type good deals, but definitely worth it considering from a brick & mortar store.

There was also an almost on today's Flea Market trip. A guy had a Tempest cab that was a little beat up that had been converted to a generic one. The control panel was dual 6 button and it had Vigilante in it. There were some glitches in the graphics that I'm pretty sure were the game board. However the side Tempest graphics were mostly intact and he had it down to $30. I really hemmed and harred if I could somehow stuff it in the back of my wagon, drag it up to the third floor, and cram it into my apartment. After finishing looking at everything else and going back he had sold it. Ah well, someone made a final decision for me.

I got a 6 button Sega stick for $7. Still need to clean it as it is dusty, but it should clean up pretty well.

Posting the cars in the non-gaming finds thread. Was glad I directed Jmustang to the Games+ since he didn't find anything at the Flea Market to buy. I had seen those Gen games last weekend at the store. I'm a bit jealous that there was a sale going on today as I might have gotten a few of them at that price.
