because free multiplayer was a huge reason why the ps3 became dominant here

It will be paid, just like Xbox Gold.

Damn. That sucks. I don't game enough to pay. I'm on in spurts. 3 months don't even long on once. Then for maybe a week I'm on each day. The reason I didn't get a 360 was because Gold is unfair to the casual gamer like me, but I guess Sony couldn't pass up the easy revenue.

It's worth it for the free games, cloud saving, auto updates, etc. especially if you have a PS4, PS3, and PS Vita all on one account.

The good news is that your account transfers so if you're on plus on PS3 then it works just fine on PS4, I assume that Sony are still going to be giving the free games away on PS3 otherwise there would be no point in having plus on PS3. So, if you're planning on getting a PS4, might as well get plus now and get those delicious free games, plus Xcom and uncharted 3 have just gone IGC for the year plus this months games as well. If you can get the DS3 with 1year plus packages over there they're the best ones to go for, I just sold the controller on eBay.

Does anyone think buying an Xbox One "Day One Edition" will be a good investment a few years from now? It comes with a commemorative controller and packaging. $500 is a lot though especially since I already preordered the PS4.

Regarding the PS+ requirement - I'm just glad PS3 and Vita will remain free to play online, the PS+ requirement is only for PS4 games.

I know the Xbox One biggest grievence is the continual online game authentification. I suspect the PS4 might fall in this same trap with the mention of "cloud save"? Sadly this is the way all gaming systems are going.

How are WiiU owners faring, any issues if leaving the console offline for say a month? Do all games including purchased DRM still work long term without an online connection? Not talking about online game play of course, just a verify that tjhe games will always run offline.

Will any of the system consoles mandated update later on kill some of the games? :?:

Cloud saves have nothing to do with persistent DRM checks.

The question is if they will still say that a few years from now.

Neither current gen console became fully backwards compatible, and they promised that too...

They did? News to me. The PS3 was pretty close at first when it had built in hardware (then software) backwards compatibility. Did MS ever actually promise that all oXbox games would be playable on the 360?
