Sums up Trancers pretty nicely  But it kept me entertained for its measly 76 minute running time. Classic cheese.

I just watched Female Prisoner 701: Scorpion, a classic of Women in Prison films as well as Japanese cult cinema. It combined nudity, violence, cruelty, an entertaining revenge tale, and a great use of color in a patently Japanese tale. The glass fight in the shower room? Absolutely amazing.

Not a movie, but I've watched the first 6 episodes of "The Big Bang Theory". I'm getting ready for the third season. I'm currently expecting the 2nd and 3rd disc from the Season One boxset. And also the 2nd disc from "Spaced", which comprises the second series of the show.

Also, scored some $1 DVDs from Wal-Mart today (made by DigiView and found near one of the registers near the tabloids). Previously, I've found a copy of Nosferatu with a Type O-Negative score and an intro by the late great David Carradine. The DVDs are:

* Warriors of the Wasteland (with Fred Williamson)
* Teenagers from Outer Space/Battle of the Worlds (disc came loose, so there's some scratches on the DVD). Worth noting: on both features, the films are, in fact, two different chapter stops on the same title. I'm thinking about ripping the DVD and fixing that.
* Space Transfomers (yet another cheap-o Korean knockoff of Japanese anime; it's got a really shitty English dub)

Also, forgive me of my sins... I opted not to buy "Revenge of the Nerds" and "Animal House" (both $5/each), but I was low on money. I already had shoes ($20), a rain jacket w/ rain pant ($10), and only just under $90 to my name. So after that and $20 on lunch (damn McDonald's and their chicken club), and less than $7 in used books, I've got $30, give or take. And I only got paid yesterday. I don't care what mom says... every time I give her money, I end up broke mere days later. I mean, $200 for her, better part of $80 on groceries, $40 taken out to have cash on hand, $50 on a trip up the beach... it's for the best and she should believe me and accept it.

Just caught GI Joe. It was quite entertaining. However, I did have some issues with it. I could ignore the way they played fast and loose with the cannon (Scarlett goes for Ripcord? Seriously?) and with the science (Mach 6 and no skin heating? And don't get me started on the "partical accelerator"), but there was one thing I just couldn't accept.

Worst.

Cobra Commander Mask.

Ever.

What, you didn't like the HL2 Combine Commander?

Good, I didn't either. In fact, I hated that movie.

At least they got the "Snake Eyes is badass" part right.

I couldnt get over the fact that the kid from 3rd Rock from the Sun was Cobra Commander...
Otherwise as a movie it sucked, but as GI Joe it was great. It was almost like a live action version of the cartoon I loved as a kid - meaning that it was over the top and broke all rules of physics.
Oh, and I love how they didn't leave out the blue and red lasers.

My family saw Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius again on Friday. Cute, but certainly not great.
