Fun and funny, good enough for me. It looks a little dated, as their idea of what a male model looks like is very late-'90s.
What was the last movie you've seen?

in fairness it is well written and has some funny moments, but it just isn't my thing.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Zoolander is definitely one of those movies that is more fun to quote than it is to watch. That said, it is a lot of fun to quote...second - in my opinion - only to The Big Lebowski.
In any event, my wife and I watched Adventureland (2009) last night. It is a cute, period romantic comedy with a great soundtrack. It did, however, make me feel quite old...which is a sign of the movie's quality. It accurately captured both a period that I remember vividly (i.e., the late 1980s) and the excitement, confusion, awkwardness, and that accompanies blossoming romantic relationships - another thing that I remember vividly but put behind myself many years ago. That said, the movie is very good, the cast is excellent, and it is at times both very funny and very moving.

I would have liked it more with a better female lead. She was kinda wooden, granted she does love vampires and werewolfs. Its my least favorite Greg Mottola, but its up against Superbad and Paul so, yeah... Like you said, it was a cute period film that was very reminiscence to the late 80s. My favorite part was the explanation of how all the games were rigged, especially the knock the hat off the mannequin game.prfsnl_gmr wrote:It is a cute, period romantic comedy with a great soundtrack.

Yeah...she is not a great actress, and I thought that her performance dragged it down a bit. I am becoming a Jesse Eisenberg fan, however, and I thought Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig were great.

We tried watching Adventureland the other day, and it got really boring. It felt like a 80s version of Nick and Norah's Playlist, except with less of the hipster vibe.
We ended up turning it off and watching something else. It' looked good back when it came out and made me want to watch it, but it was just too slow for us.
