PLAY KING'S FIELD.

Never been much of a FF guy so for some reason I thought the first one was an older regular DS game.Exhuminator wrote:Negative: The first Theatrhythm is only six years old.
I'll play by the spirit of the rules and look for something else. Shame on noise and his "best friend" parenting techniques. He'd probably let all of the kids stay up late and eat ice cream on a school night.

I cannot second this enough. Theatrhythm is an amazing celebration of the fantastic music of the series, and the only thing that makes me sad is we didn't get the Dragon Quest version localized.Exhuminator wrote:Positive: All Theatrhythm games received glowing reviews across the board.Omerta wrote:Any positive recommendations for either of the Theatrhythms? If so, I might have to track one down.
Negative: The first Theatrhythm is only six years old.
Neutral: Noise won't care.

I actually am playing Type-0 next month. Seeing as how it was originally announced in 2005 and was finally released as a PSP exclusive, it's 'retro' enough for me. But more importantly, it's the game that I'm excited to play.

Re: February's Together Retro Themes: Vote Now!
The only game I have that would be able to participate in this category is Dirge of Cereberus, so I don't think I will be participating. I have some games that I need to beat first before playing that one.Markies wrote:Unfortunately, I probably won't be participating in this month. The games and categories listed are ones that I either do not own or have already beaten. If I look hard enough, I might be able to find one or two, but we shall see when the month comes up.
But, I choose those two categories because I love the Final Fantasy franchise and I always love to read about people playing those games.
With that in mind, I am so looking forward to reading everybody's opinions on the different games. There is so much variety being thrown around and I think there are some true hidden gems. I think this will be a good month and what better way to spend a cold February then with some great RPG's.

Let the record show that Type-0 was first released as a PSP exclusive in 2011.noiseredux wrote:I actually am playing Type-0 next month. Seeing as how it was originally announced in 2005 and was finally released as a PSP exclusive, it's 'retro' enough for me.
But hey man it's your TR, do whatever you want! I just hope you enjoy Type-0 more than I did.

I know it was originally released in 2011. I'll gladly co-sign the record.
I just mentioned that it was announced in 2005 - it started development in 2006, and then went through a bunch of development hell for years. But it was still a game made for PSP originally. In fact by the time of its release in 2011 SE didn't even see a lucrative reason to release it in the US.
But yeah, I've already played a bunch of Final Fantasy games over the past 30 years. Type-0 is one that I've been meaning to play for a while, so I'm using this as a good excuse. I'm looking forward to digging in, as well as reading everyone else's impressions of the games that they've chosen to play.

The only way I'd mess with Type-0 at this point is the PS4 version, which I think took out a bit of the grindy aspects of the original.

I'm going to play Kingdom Hearts next month, to save me buying anything new. My other option would have been trying to import the Legends games on Game Boy, but that's money and time intensive to get before February, and I've had an unplayed copy of Kingdom Hearts for like 5 years now.
