I'll do my first round of critique later today...but I already see a lot of games being regarded as "classic" that are much better classified as "cult" or, maybe generously, "cult classics" at best. That shit needs to go.

Protip: your games should probably be things that everyone expects that you'd have already played. The best way to flesh out your lists is often to push yourself into new genres, not deeper into genres or system libraries you already love. Most "classics" have seen some kind of rerelease, for example...

2. Kings Quest 8 - PC
3. Quest for Glory 1-5 - PC
8. Steel Battalion - oXbox
9. Top Gun - NES
10. Ghosts n Goblins - NES

Ill do your job for you DSH: none but GNG are considered classics, and I dont care. I am crossgaming with Exhuminators Jabberwacky.

I think Quest for Glory 1 and 2 are considered legit classics. Maybe not 3-5 so much.

Also, just in case you don't know, Quest for Glory 2 got a great remake:

And it's free even.

Revised list of ideas, mainly because I had only considered physical games I owned that I never beat and didn't consider digital games.

Dragon Warrior III (GBC)
Mole Mania (GB)
Tales of Symphonia (GCN)
Advance Wars (GBA)
Castlevania: Circle of the Moon (GBA)
Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete (PS1)
Jet Grind Radio (DC)
Shenmue (DC)
Metal Gear Solid 1-3 (PS1 & PS2)
Katamari Damacy (PS2)
Super Puyo Puyo (SFC)
Chrono Trigger (Wii VC)
Mega Man 3 (Wii U VC)
Mega Man X2 (Wii VC)
Earthbound (Wii U VC)

Every year, Dave considers every one of my choices unworthy. But I end up beating about half of them anyway...

QfG1&2 have remakes, but I am unsure if they support saves throughout the series.

EDIT, QFG2 Remake DOES support character imports. I am so playing the fan version.

Yes, all of AGD's remakes are true and professional labors of love.

I still need to play through their KQ3 remake. It's one of the KQs I haven't beaten. (I've beaten KQ1, KQ2, KQ4, KQ5, KQ6.)

The remake is phenomenal of KQ3. They continue to tie in the story of the black cloaked wizards and the puzzles are more logical and well presented.

IF I replay KQ2 or 3, itll be their versions. KQ1 will forever be EGA in my mind - Too many hours trying to beat it on a friends PCjr.

pierrot wrote:All right, I'm going to finalize a list
1. Toe Jam & Earl = Cult classic at best. Not a great game either, and this is coming from a fan of roguelike designs.
2. Ecco the Dolphin = Classic methinks.
3. Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes = The original is a classic, this remake counts I guess.
4. Salamander = I defer.
5. Street Fighter Zero /2(Dash?) = Classic.
6. Xanadu = Classic if you're Japanese.
7. Dragon Slayer: Legend of Heroes II = I defer.
8. Final Fantasy II = Kind of a black sheep isn't it? Don't think it's a classic like 1, 4, 5, or 6 is.
9. Either: The Last Express or Devil May Cry = Last Express = cult classic, Devil May Cry a legit classic.
