I'm actually surprised this exists. Have we ever seen a plug n play based on a console by a manufacturer that's still in the hardware business?
I'm on the fence about getting this. The reason I scooped up the second gen plug n plays was because they contained homebrew and unreleased games in addition to the retail stuff. Nothing like that here, it mostly contains games I already own on NES. Maybe once the price bottoms out.

Re: NES Classic
There is a Genesis one already.arcadifvid wrote:got to be honest. i wish we'd have more of these mini classic pnp consoles beyond nintendo. need genesis, dreamcast , tg16, neo geo as well. maybe they should all have nintendo make it since nintendo is the only remaining hardware maker, and they wont license it to some company that makes knock offs.
as for nintendo hope they make these all the way to gamecube. including maybe consolized gbc, gba
heck maybe ill wait 10-20 years from now a wii, wii u , nx as well. (though my aging body might not be able to handle it)
Re: NES Classic
^Let's forget that though, because well ATGames licensed the crappiest chinese chip/emulation core possible which they never make real attempts to improve.
It tends to start a lot of discussions just how bad the audio is, how it won't save even on real carts, or how random games just fail to work or work right when loading your own.
I think I said it earlier, want to throw a positive in there for Sega look no further than their 30 games closed handheld for SMS/GG as it's excellent.

The Genesis one is awful, though.

I'm betting Nintendo's gonna raise the bar for this concept with their first iteration.

I'm really hoping so. If it sells I'd love to see more quality plug 'n play systems hit the market.Exhuminator wrote:I'm betting Nintendo's gonna raise the bar for this concept with their first iteration.

I certainly hope so. It's about damn time they start doing a bit more with their monstrous classic backlog.Gunstar Green wrote:I'm really hoping so.
