Re: How is your Game Gear gaming going?
Question. Are there any third party knockoffs that play game gear games or anything to that effect? Sort of like the At Games genesis clones.

None that I have ever heard of. Just those Coleco or Blaze collections on a portable (no external game access).
Would love to be surprised though.

Re: How is your Game Gear gaming going?
The Coleco and Blaze branded ones are all released by At@games. They've also been called Playpal and generic things like, "Sega Arcade 20-in-1 game". In fact, they've been called practically everything EXCEPT gamegear. Go figure.
Lots of technical data here:

Edit: If you believe anything that Hyperkin says, supposedly the cartridge connector for the gamegear is a hard part to source. Supposedly no one is manufacturing that specific connector. If that is true, a best-case scenario would be loading ROMs onto a handheld from an SD card... which you can already do an myriad android devices or a PSP.

http://segaretro.org/Arcade_Gamer_Portable This. I own it, yes ATGames in the US released it most recently, previously Coleco slapped their name on it years earlier. Unlike the Genesis emulator firecore, the one in this isn't crap. The audio and visuals both are solid, the selection of GG/SMS games is smaller with 30 at $20 and locked with no SD card support, but it's a really fun diversion with a nice selection on there.strangenova wrote:Question. This is the exact version down to the color I have:

View the back, that's what you get as it has weenie little scans of the fronts of every game box included. There are some really solid GG and SMS games on there to enjoy.
The blurb on sega retro is full of shit, it does NOT have SD card support.

Well its a cool device. I wish it had a cart slot on it, every where I look online I'm seeing it's unavailable anyway.

Re: How is your Game Gear gaming going?
There's a couple floating on ebay right now in the forty-dollar range. Just look for a generic Sega handheld with two buttons rather than six or three. The ones with six or three buttons are the crummy Genesis clones.
Re: How is your Game Gear gaming going?
I just see one in the US for $37 shipped, used, unit alone.

Too much, check the history and they're down around $10-15USD out of the UK pre-shipping. Get one not using the stupid global scamming program of ebay and it would probably be no higher than $30 out the door.

Re: How is your Game Gear gaming going?
went to the flea market and did see a few game gear games but I picked up shinobi 2 for 4.00. I haven't played too much game gear at all. I'm finally going to start playing some gear
