Random Metal Gear Question:

I acquired a copy of Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection (PS3) this morning. I already own Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3) and Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (PS3). Should I keep my copies of MGS4 and MGS HD Collection and sell my copy of MGS Legacy Collection or vice versa?

I'd keep the Legacy Collection. The version of MGS4 in that rolls in the later patches (which added things like trophy support, and revised the install/loading setup). Far as I know, Japan and Europe got other releases (25th Anniversary) that rolled those in, but in the U.S. it's just the one in the Legacy Collection.
It also includes the digital comics on the HD collection disc I believe, as an improvement over previous stand-alone disc.

Awesome. Thanks for the help.

When you're actually in the moment stealthing the game feels like a 10/10. It's the fault of the plot and how the missions are arranged that make it feel repetitive for some, because in some ways it is. That doesn't have to do with the gameplay itself though.

That being said, maybe some people find the game average or boring because that's just how they feel. There's nothing wrong with that. I don't know why but when it comes to the MGS series people constantly make excuses for it.

For some reason it's not held to the same standard as any other game. Think the story is nonsensical? Think the old games had poor control? It's Metal Gear man! This is what you should expect! It's beautiful in its own way! Kojima is a genius!

Just the other day someone tried to tell me that this series was closer to a work of art than any other video game. This is why I can't stand Kojima fans. These are good games to be sure and they're often great, but they're not on any special pedestal whatsoever.

Just because the story is all over the place doesn't mean it's a work of art. It means the creator is not a great writer. Just because the games have flaws doesn't mean said flaws are some quirky intention. It means the devs aren't perfect, just like every other dev.
Knowing Kojima's storytelling since MG1 on MSX, I have no issue with the story (though MGS4 was trying, especially Emmerich.. I would shoot the bastard myself), but in recent years we had open-world games that gave us creative ways to break stuff. MGS5 still has some nice touches, though.. I want to get the flying iron fist as soon as possible

Wow Kojima, you sure a pain in the ass......
I am not going to check 900 employees for infection you maggot

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I was waiting for mission 51 to show up and it didn't.. for the longest time, I was trolled again! GG Kojima. All in all a very good game, not sure it was necessary and I didn't even let Quiet back to MB, and the online seems a bit shit from the looks of it, but I really hope the series ends here (Although after shifting +6 million copies in sales, Konami is probably already budgeting the next installment.)

I fucking hate Konami. I didn't think it was possible to generate even more hate, but good job Konami.

This is worse than RE going pure action to me. This makes no fucking sense.

Please world, don't buy this, and please go away Konami.

^I was a lot less upset about it. But in fairness, I'm not a huge die hard Metal Gear fan. I've played a handful of MG games - and thought they were great. But not an obsessive fan. I still haven't even played V, even though I was excited to do so.

Anyway, my take is that Konami owns the license and it sells well, so releasing a new game is far from a surprise to me. But why I think it's not a terrible idea is the whole "alternate reality" thing. Meaning, I'm glad that they're basically saying "yeah this is not part of Kojima's story." It's almost like they're making a big budget fan-fiction sequel.

While the core gameplay seems to be pretty divorced from MGS, being fair, it's not a "Solid" entry. Kind of like Rising (which has fairly tenuous connections to the MGS world, other than reusing Raiden and a brief scene with Sunny), or perhaps the AC!D games.

The plot elements, what they seem to be anyway, are things already present in MGSV to some degree.
The Skull units are already parasite based, with regular enemies in the area getting zombified, essentially. The game already uses wormholes as the logic for being able to warp to your forward operating bases to defend them, if you engage in that multiplayer aspect (and you can develop a wormhole Fulton that can work indoors and such). They could even tie it back to the side-ops where you rescue wandering Mother Base soldiers - it'd certainly give more logic to why they'd be deliriously wandering around nine years after it was destroyed.

I don't disagree that it's kind of an odd thing for Konami to seemingly be like "we need our own Left 4 Dead...what IP can we use?"...but they could potentially make something good with it. Or, at least, something that integrates into the MGS world better than Rising...

I don't know why they couldn't just make an MGS game. I know some believe it belongs to Kojima and that's their opinion, but I honestly don't know why people wouldn't take a new proper MGS game over this, regardless of who made it.

Man I can't see how anyone would defend this. Of course the MGS series died to me the instant they shit on Kojima after 30 years of service and him being pushed out, but who on Earth wants a co-op zombie MGS game, in 2016? Who asked for this? Even non MGS fans are laughing at it all around the net. I love how utterly generic it looks too without Yoji Shinkawa's touch. This is as soulless as it gets folks. Fan or not, this looks like hot garbage. I guess Umbrella Corps needed some competition.
