"Applications installed by your OEM" is code for "that shit Dell installs that's terrible".

Bloatware, not a single one of which anyone should keep, outside of very rare cases. HP put a couple programs on my wife's laptop that were useful, but 2/20 here. On my desktop, not a single one.

If you guys are like me, when you buy a new computer from a manufacturer like Dell, you just format the harddrive and start from scratch.

Wu-Tang is for the children, and Windows 10 seems to be for gamers. We knew that DX12 would be a Win10 exclusive, and now MS have announced that the (long awaited) wireless dongle for XBox One controllers is also going to require Win10. Unlike the 360 one that had a long USB cable with a receiver at the end, this is a slick little ($25) dongle that looks like a USB stick.

I'm honestly looking forward to Win10. Right now, my only nervousness comes from possibly losing compatibility w/ any older games as I do have a decent collection of DOS/Win95/98/etc games that I play.

That is why you setup an XP box for all your older games. Kit it out with an agp 6800, 3gigs of ddr, a soundblaster gold, and a couple pata harddrives and youll be solid.

I've honestly considered it. And have a boxed copy of XP around. And Lord knows I've got more than enough old PC's around the house. I have a couple of Win98 boxes in the basement that are probably still working even. It's more a space thing though as far as actually keeping multiple PC's hooked up. Currently got my gaming PC and a laptop on the same desk and that feels comfortable without being cramped. I actually had to stop myself from buying an iMac G3 last weekend that I saw for $20 just because I didn't want to find a place to put it.

Make a pi 2 box then that runs rpix86 (dos for pi)?

Thatll handle up to early 90s stuff with no real issue, and its the size of a deck of cards.

Just use a KVM switch. If space is still a problem, then try and build a smaller XP box.

an interesting idea. Hopefully Win10 will run DOSBox w/ no issues and handle compatibility modes well enough. I have several older laptops around too that I guess I could resort to for older games if need be.

@Ziggy: "Space" is maybe the wrong word. I've got plenty of space. But I hate clutter.

I wouldn't worry too much about DOSBox. The place I'd expect failures is games from Win95/98 era that you've currently got installed.
