Wow hobie I just was going to post something like that. Went to a flea market over by my work, yeas it was actually open lol but seen a guy selling a bunch of musical instruments and over by the side i seen 4 genesis sports games. Brett hull hockey 95, NFL 94, quarterback club, and triple play baseball. I asked him much and he said he would cut me a deal and offer 20.00 for all. I cringed and put them away . He asked if that was too high and I said yes it was. Then he asked how much I would pay for them and I told him about 1.00 a piece and he said I would have better luck at the salvation army.Hobie-wan wrote:Forget that, how about how old sports games are making a comeback and how rare they are now because people have just been throwing them away.Jrecee wrote:I think we should do a series of fake articles on Racketboy, touting how rare and valuable copies of Super Mario Bros/Duck hunt are. That way we can all make a killing on the 12 copies we have, and use the money to afford overpriced megaman games.
When will SNES games start going down in price again?

I have a box of about 30+ SNES sports games I picked up a while ago so I am all for it
.
Guy had a whole table of SNES carts as well as a 20-30 jewel case PC games and 2 or 3 gamecube games. Told me $20 takes them all so I hopped on it without thinking. Wasn't a bad deal plus he tossed in a gym bag to carry it all in but they were all sports games and there were a ton of duplicates. Thinned the majority of my sports games out of the collection last month so no clue what I'm going to do with all these basketball, football, hockey, and baseball games now
.
Edit:
found the pictures from that day.

Why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why are people paying these prices for snes games? Believe me I know the answer but damn man wtf 150.00 for castlevania, same goes for mega man 7 or x3, 100+ for wildcats or wild guns or wild cows or some crazy shit like that. I can't see myself buying those games. Like many of you adults I got a wife and kids to feed and bills to pay. My whole 30.00 to spend a month on snes games will never get me true snes treasures lol. Thats it im done with snes. Hold on let me sell some drugs I mean I do live in worcester that will get me money to buy snes games.
Re: When will SNES games start going down in price again?
Someone should suggest racketboy to make a column on best games for the snes under 30.00 or something like that. I was mostly being true about the price gauging on rare gems but I know you can still get great classics for under 30.00 like he did for the sega Saturn

My condolences.mas wrote:I do live in worcester
My SNES collecting has grinded to a halt lately.
I may purchase a couple of Super Famicom games in the next few months - I still don't have Final Fantasy V for instance - but nothing serious.

This thread depresses me, especially because I still need Dracula X, MM7 and MMX3, and a manual to complete Harvest Moon (average $95).

@ ninjaspandex: I know what your saying brother but I actually love owning the carts. I will buy the sdcards thingies but right now i want the decent priced games like punch out and zelda etc. I will get the card for Dracula x, mega man 7, x3,
We should call the snes sega Saturn or neo geo with some of the prices.

It seems to be a pervading trait now that most gamers have more games than they can ever play these days. When second hand markets for previous generation software is priced so low it's easy to accrue large amounts of "good" games which can be appealing for various reasons. For myself I look at it as a gamer first and a collector second meaning, I buy games I want to play and I end up keeping them if they stand the test of appeal/playability/enjoyment. The key here is want, not need. Nobody needs to own video games unless they want to need for fulfilling some collecting objective.
It also seems when markets for older games start to rise in price due to "retro" demand down the line there are always a vocal group who decry the often expensive increases. That's fine but ultimately nothing appears to be or has been done regarding that. My question is why do you want the games right now? Why not 4 years ago and alternately why not 4 years from now? If you can't justify the prices now why not wait a while and see what happens and really what do you miss out on if your patience doesn't pay off - more cardboard and plastic. Really, looking at collecting video games costs very little compared to other hobbies where prices have rose significantly (precious metals in coins) or plummeted (sports card). It's also no patch on collecting automobiles or fine antiques which can put stuff like CIB EarthBounds to shame without blinking an eye.
My advice is to truly question oneself why you need something and if your life is any worse off without it (see: emulation, SD2SNES, saving $, etc.). It is a hobby after all and shouldn't be a cause of strife otherwise it seems a bit masochistic.
Re: When will SNES games start going down in price again?
But that's no fun getting things like the everdrive or even hacking the current systems for emulation. What's the fun in eliminating the hunt and always trying to get that game you don't have yet that everyone tells you that you should play. Plus I like having full shelfs even if I'm holding out for the time that snes games drop in price significantly(and maybe pick up a few cheapies here and there or even look at lots when I get a chance). If you think the prices snes games are bad just look at shantae and little samson....shantae I will probably get on my 3ds because I don't think I will ever be able to afford that one....forget it when it comes to little samson...
