Well...yeah. Let's face it, the cynic in you is probably correct. This is the NFL saying "oh shit, the public saw it" about a video they supposedly had access to when they made the two game suspension decision. But how many teams are going to want to take the amount of flak they'll get for hiring this guy, especially in the immediate wake of what just happened? My guess is not many.dsheinem wrote:Yeah, I saw that after. The cynic in me thinks that this is too much after-the-fact ass-covering by the league, but I do hope it becomes a permaban.Ack wrote:
I don't think anyone can. According to the New York Times, Rice has been indefinitely suspended from the NFL.

Yeah, but if someone on a playoff run needs a former-Pro Bowl RB late in the season after a key injury or something, lots of teams/fans may look the other wayAck wrote:Well...yeah. If leonard little and donte stallworth can come back in the league I think someone will pick up rice next year. Then again that all pro lineman that bullied a 350 pound team mate is still sitting at home.

Re: NFL 2014 Thread
Goodell should resign over this Rice crap. They all tried to cover it up and he personally hands out the discipline, so it's on his ass. Of course he won't, though. He's the all powerful God of the NFL who is making $40 mil a year (according to tax papers) and watering down the league.
Now if this were Adrian Peterson, the people who had the tape would be killed and we'd never hear of it.

They have escaped into the mansion where they thought it was safe, yet.
Re: NFL 2014 Thread
The NFL did handle it.... Today anyway, suspended indefinitely. But only after tmz released a tape they already seen from the get go. Just covering there ass. That punch was was like Tyson though, could barely see that left hook until super slow motion.jvalentine98 wrote:Goodell should resign over this Rice crap. Do we know this? The first person to report it, Peter King, is now backtracking saying he "heard they'd seen it" after initially saying flat out they'd seen it.stickem wrote: But only after tmz released a tape they already seen from the get go. Just covering there ass.
I'm somewhat surprised and I caution even typing this - but I am curious...is the outrage because it was a woman he hit? Or is it other factors? (note: there are other factors that I consider, but i'm wondering if they are the same).
I've only seen the video once and from what I saw, she was the aggressor. I don't know this woman and she certainly appears intoxicated and being that he is a pro football player, he probably wasn't in any real danger. However, being female alone should not be the main reason people are upset. I know and have seen plenty of females incapacitate trained large males. Just a month ago at work, one of our officers was knocked cold, by one punch, by an intoxicated female.
Re: NFL 2014 Thread
It was reported when the first video surfaced that a second video was also in possession, by King and Chris mortinson, so I'm going by that. I'd never hit a woman but my wife was watching the video just now and said something along the lines at what you were getting at, she was the aggressor, she came at him, put her hands on him blah blah blah. But she's a little redneck in her thinking sometimes lol.
Re: NFL 2014 Thread
To me it looks like he got up in her face and said something argumentative and then she pushed him away to have more space. She then continued to walk towards him in the elevator after the fact to make sure he stayed at bay (sort of swatting at him, maybe). And then he hit her with a KO shot.mjmjr25 wrote:Do we know this? I have no doubt that she was also agitated and perhaps willing/wanting to hit/swat him, but the intensity of his hit is simply inexcusable. He's clearly big/strong/fast enough to hold her back, to restrain her from hitting, or to otherwise defuse the situation physically. He has a responsibility to do so. It's like if my five year old pushed me hard or kicked me in the knee when he was mad and I responded with a punch that broke his arm or caused internal bleeding or something. It's a question of scale, not strictly of gender.
Beyond that it is the way that he treated her passed out body afterwards…dragging it around and denying her any degree of modesty when her clothes start to bunch up, etc.
