I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on it then.

Setting aside my (played up) venom from earlier, I really do find it annoying and repetitive. *shrug* Oh well.

37 awesome songs out of 38 is incredible, so I'm not truly complaining.

Now I must ask though, why are Miku and Luka obsessed with Rin? Is there a precedent for it before this song?
Not sure. I don't know the Vocaloid fandom that well. There is a version for Len too. Len-kun Nau instead of Rin-chan Nau.

Keep in mind that Vocaloid songs and art work are almost entirely fan created. So there are many songs that portray the characters differently. I think it is 'Acute' (also in PDF) that is about a love triangle between Miku, Luka, and Kaito. They don't really have any set in stone stories. The fans create stories for them
Ohhh! I had no idea. That's pretty cool!

Since only one song in the game is in English and I haven't looked up any translations, I've only gone by the videos for each song's story, and not all of them are obvious. I certainly didn't pick up on that when I played Acute, though it makes perfect sense learning it now.

Thanks for filling me in.

That's probably the defining feature of the Vocaloid fandom. I think it will last a long time because of that.

Come to think of it, it's not surprising that no translated lyrics were included. Miku songs tend to be absolutely bonkers.

New information on Project Diva F 2nd is out.

Some new songs are confirmed, plus some favorite modules from the PSP games in the new art style.

More interesting, there will be two new types of scratch notes (the stars).

First are double scratch notes. For these, you flick both sticks on the PS3 controller or use two fingers on the Vita.

Image

The second type is a link scratch, "which has a star icon follow a line rather than having the stars fly on screen." I have no idea what that means.

Overall I'm not sure what to think of this. It's an improvement on the scratch notes, which were definitely the most boring part of the game, but it's not enough. Because you have to move your hand to hit a scratch note, they can't be mixed up with any other notes. They should just be done away with.

I doubt the double scratches will work with the arcade controller. Sega probably didn't bother with a multi-touch panel, especially of the console reads it as an analog stick. Bummer for those who bought it.

Crap. Am I going to need ANOTHER arcade controller? Wasn't expecting this. Honestly, I wish they'd just incorporate the slide bar from the new arcade version. Would work GREAT on the Vita. PS3 not so much. I am very unsure as to how the linked star notes will work on a Dual Shock controller. On the Vita it could be a follow the line type thing like in boring games like Theatrhythm? Hmmm. :(

Or maybe you swipe at the right time while you see the indicator move across the line. Would be a bit like Project Mirai.

I've never played Theatrhythm or Project Mirai. I guess I'll have to wait for a video before I can understand it.

That really sucks about the arcade controller. Sega might include a compatibility mode, but I doubt it. You'll end up either buying another one or playing with a Dualshock. I was never interested in one, since I've always been fine with the PSP controls, but going back to an inferior control setup can give you some serious withdrawl.

I will not go back to a regular PS3 controller. Mini controller should still work. Given that this is a simultaneous release on PS3 and Vita I would bet that it's going to be a moving indicator on a line and you just swipe at the right time. Basically the same as 1 finger swipes now. And then the two finger swipes are whatever. I feel like you may be right about them not working right on the current arcade controller. I could be wrong, but I think the touchpad on the arcade controller functions like 1 analog stick.

So, what was the hardest song in your opinion?

Negaposi. Definitely tough to even clear it on extreme. I was actually playing a bunch of Vita PDf last week to make sure I had great or higher on as many extreme songs as possible. Wasn't too hard to get great or excellent on most. But when gets to 9 star+ songs it's a challenge. Gotta definitely learn some of those songs better.

I thought the hardest song was Sadistic Music Factory, but Negaposi is an easy second. I wish more songs were that way. Would be nice to have a fifth difficulty level. The only songs I haven't been able to beat are the ones that make you smash buttons at ridiculous speed.

But you know, the first Project Diva turned out to be harder than I thought. Doing everything with one finger got pretty tough on that second-last song.

this game is effing hard! even on easy mode, with a one star level song, I failed most of the time. My japanese gamers friends also failed. Only one managed to finish a song, once! We were playing with the regular controller, so it might be why, but oh god that game isn't easy !

I played a lot of rythm games on the hardest level, such as rockband, guitar hero, taiko no taitsu jin, etc, but i didn't think a blue haired girl anime game would kick my gamer's ass soo much. the songs are cool, but couldn't get far in the game, so i had only 3 songs unlocked, returned the game, i lost 10$ in the trade, but at least this game isn't in my collection anymore to give me nightmares hahahah
